Student posts may not be 
properly restricted to their own group when creating a Discussion post from a mobile device. When this occurs, all users with access to that Topic will be able to see the post, and the post will appear to have been made to a “Deleted Group. This is a bug that has been reported and confirmed by Desire2Learn.
At this time we recommend users avoid creating Discussion posts from mobile devices when possible.
When grading Discussions, Instructors should view “All Groups” to ensure that there are not any posts being excluded from the View.

Desire2Learn, our Learning Management System, is scheduled for an outage in order for Learn@UW to perform scheduled maintenance to the infrastructure. While this work is underway, maintenance pages will be displayed, and access to the Learning Environment will be unavailable. The outage take place on Wednesday, May 24th, 2017 from 5:00 AM (CST) through 7:00 AM (CST). During this timeframe, D2L will not be available.

There is an upgrade to Desire2Learn scheduled to start at 9:30pm on Wednesday, June 14th and be completed by 10:30am on Thursday, June 15th. During this time, you will not be able to access Desire2Learn. Please plan your summer course work accordingly. We are in the process of creating a “What’s New?“ document and will make it available in the coming weeks. We do not foresee any more changes with this update.

Starting June 1st, students will no longer be able to directly open and login to the Respondus LockDown Browser. Instead, they will need to visit the quiz page in any other browser and press the “Launch LockDown Browser” button. When they click the button, the LockDown Browser will launch, and students will automatically be logged in and taken directly to the quiz in D2L. This helps improve the user experience for the student. If LockDown Browser is not installed, a message will be displayed telling them to download it from the above link.
Starting June 1st, any student attempting to access a Quiz with Respondus enabled should receive an error message that states “LockDown Browser shouldn’t be started manually. Use a standard browser (eg. Chrome, IE, Firefox, etc) to navigate to the exam and LockDown Browser will launch automatically when it’s required“.

Resolved 11:40AM. The outage has been resolved and users should no longer receive these errors. Learn@UW is continuing to investigate the root cause to ensure quality service moving forward. At about 11:05am on Tuesday, March 21st some users started receiving a “500 Error” when logging in to or accessing Desire2Learn. Learn@UW Technicians are aware of the issue and are currently investigating the problem. We will post more information as it is received.
