Recent LTC Staff Presentations

Over the last six months, several Learning Technology Center staff members have given presentations and workshops at national and regional conferences.

In February, Director of Learning Technology Nicole Weber co-presented, with Professor Matt Vick, “What it took to create my first adaptive course: A Faculty Perspective” as a webinar for the adaptive learning platform Realizeit. 

In April, several LTC staff members presented or co-presented several presentations at the UW System Learning Technology Development Council Virtual Showcase. The presentations were “Experiences incorporating a student perspective into an adaptive learning pilot project,” “Piloting adaptive learning with an upper-level professional course,” and “Open Educational Resources (OERs) to help transform students to learners.” 

In August, Director of Learning Technology Nicole Weber co-presented “Building a comprehensive online and blended faculty development program” at the 2019 Distance Teaching and Learning (DTL) Conference. Learning Technology Specialist Andrew Cole also presented at the DTL Conference, facilitating a workshop called “Facilitate genuine communication in your online course.” Proceedings papers from the DTL Conference can be found at this link.

In October, Director of Learning Technology Nicole Weber co-presented Improving the learning experience through innovative strategic partnerships at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado.

In November, Learning Technology Specialist Andrew Cole co-chaired a workshop, Playing with Open Educational Resources (OERs): What communication faculty need to know, at the Annual Convention of the National Communication Association in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Also in November, Director of Learning Technology, Nicole Weber and Matt Vick presented Adaptive learning 101: How professors and learning technology centers can collaborate to launch a new adaptive course and
A discussion about adaptive learning and discussion boards: What role can they serve and what value can they have? at the Online Learning Consortium’s Accelerate International Conference in Orlando, Florida.

LTC Staff Presented at the 2018 Distance Teaching and Learning Conference

Several Learning Technology Center staff members recently gave presentations at the 2018 Distance Teaching & Learning Conference in Madison, WI. The conference ran from August 7th to August 9th, 2018.

On Tuesday August 7th, Learning Technology Specialist Andrew Cole co-facilitated a pre-conference workshop called How Can We Apply the Science of Learning to Online and Blended/Hybrid Courses?

On Wednesday August 8th, Director of Learning Technology Nicole Weber presented an information session on Extending the LMS for enhanced communication and collaboration.

On Thursday August 9th, LMS Administrator Shane Degen and Learning Technology Specialist Andrew Cole facilitated a discussion session on Maintaining Community after Online/Blended Faculty Development “Ends.”
