[RESOLVED] Desire2Learn Service Issue

The issue was resolved at 12:50PM.  If you are still experiencing errors accessing D2L, please fill out the support form.

Beginning at 11:50AM on Thursday, July 14, 2016, users may receive an internal error message when accessing courses in Desire2Learn. Learn@UW has been notified, and technicians are actively working to engage the problem. We will provide updates as we have more information available.

[RESOLVED] Streaming Videos Unavailable

On Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 between ~5:00 AM and 8:20 AM users were unable to access videos hosted on http://streaming.uww.edu (VBrick Rev).  The issue has now been resolved.

[Resolved] Kaltura Service Issues (6/10)

As of 11:04 AM, the issue has been resolved.  If you continue to have issues viewing video content, please contact D2L Support.

Beginning around 9:56 AM, users may receive an error message when attempting to view videos in Desire2Learn.  The error message may read “An error was experienced when playing this video.  Please check your Internet Connection and try again.”

This issue is only impacting videos hosted with Kaltura.  These are videos that are recorded using CaptureSpace, or uploaded / recorded via the My Media tool.  The issue has been confirmed as a widespread outage, and we will post back updates as we receive additional information.

[RESOLVED] Desire2Learn Service Issues (5/31)

RESOLVED 10:33AM: Desire2Learn services have been restored and are now available. Users should now be able to access their D2L courses with no issues. Please contact UW-W D2L Support if you still experience any errors.

Beginning at 8:00AM on Monday, May 31, 2016, users may receive an internal error message when accessing courses in Desire2Learn. Learn@UW has been notified, and technicians are actively working to engage the problem. We will provide updates as we have more information available.

[RESOLVED] Desire2Learn Service Issues (4/25-4/28)

Summary: On Saturday, April 23th, Learn@UW performed a scheduled database upgrade as a necessary preparation for the upcoming Desire2Learn upgrade in June.  Beginning around 10AM on Monday, April 25th, users began to encounter errors, and Learn@UW technologists started to investigate the issues.  At 8:40AM on Tuesday, April 26th, we reported that the errors were resolved, except for the discussion statistics issue.  At 8:15AM on Wednesday, April 27th the initial errors returned with some more severe errors.  The decision was made at 10:30AM by Learn@UW to take the system offline to preserve the data integrity and to allow for more intensive diagnostics.  Throughout the day, Learn@UW worked closely with high level Microsoft and Desire2Learn technicians to diagnose and implement a fix.  Services were restored at 12:30AM on Thursday, April 28th.  We again would like to thank everyone for their patience during this outage.

RESOLVED Thursday 4/28 12:30AM: Desire2Learn services have been restored and are now available.  Thank you for your patience during the outage.  Please continue to report any issues using the contact UW-W D2L Support form.

UPDATE Wednesday 4/27 11:00PM: Desire2Learn services remain unavailable.  Learn@UW has received recommendations from vendors and is currently working through a plan to implement the changes.

UPDATE Wednesday 4/27 8:45PM: Desire2Learn services remain unavailable.  Technologists continue to review the diagnostic information.  It is likely that the service will need to be temporarily restored in order to test anticipated resolutions.  We will provide another update around 10:45PM.

UPDATE Wednesday 4/27 6:15PM: Desire2Learn services remain unavailable.  There have been additional diagnostics tools put in place and work towards a resolution continues.

UPDATE Wednesday 4/27 3:45PM: Desire2Learn services remain unavailable.  Vendor engineers are engaged, and continue to work towards a resolution.

UPDATE Wednesday 4/27 2:00PM: Desire2Learn services remain unavailable.  High priority tickets are open with vendors and all necessary technologists at Learn@UW are actively working to resolve the issue.

UPDATE Wednesday 4/27 11:45AM: Desire2Learn services remain unavailable.  Intensive investigation is in progress and Desire2Learn vendor support resources are fully engaged.

UPDATE Wednesday 4/27 10:30AM: Desire2Learn is currently unavailable to allow for additional investigation to proceed.

UPDATE Wednesday 4/27 9:45AM: Learn@UW is continuing to investigate the root cause of the problem.  Users will continue to experience slow response times and Internal Errors when accessing the server.

UPDATE Wednesday 4/27 8:15AM: Users may experience slowness or error messages while logging into D2L. The issue has been reported to Learn@UW, and technicians are actively working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

UPDATE Tuesday 4/26 8:07PM: Users are still reporting issues with using Discussion Statistics. Learn@UW is still working with D2L to diagnose and correct this issue as soon as possible.

UPDATE Tuesday 4/26 8:40AM: The initial issues impacting D2L appear to be resolved, but users may still experience errors when accessing some tools including Discussion Statistics at the Forum level. The workaround for this error is to review Discussion statistics at the topic level.

UPDATE Monday 4/25 6:33PM: Learn@UW technicians are still working to correct the issues impacting D2L. They are, however, making more progress though users may still experience issues.

UPDATE Monday 4/25 4:01PM: Learn@UW technicians are making progress on the issues that have been impacting Desire2Learn throughout the day. Users may still experience errors while accessing D2L.

Beginning at 10:09AM on Monday, April 25, 2016, users may encounter errors while trying to access or login to Desire2Learn. Learn@UW has been notified, and technicians are working actively to engage the issue. We will provide updates as we know more.

[RESOLVED] D2L Service Issues – 4/3

RESOLVED 11:46PM: Service has been fully restored. The issue was resolved as of 11:28PM. Users should now be able to access Desire2Learn. If you continue to have problems, please contact UW-W D2L Support.

UPDATE 11:23PM: Users still appear to be encountering issues with accessing D2L. Learn@UW has been notified, and we will provide updates as soon as we can. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. 

RESOLVED 10:23PM: Service has been restored. The issue was resolved as of 9:40PM. Users should now be able to access Desire2Learn. If you continue to have problems, please contact UW-W D2L Support.

Beginning at 6:55PM on Saturday, April 3, 2016, users may encounter errors while trying to access or logging to Desire2Learn. Users have reported seeing a “Not Authorized” screen after logging into D2L. Learn@UW has been notified, and technicians are working actively to engage the issue. We will provide updates as we know more.

[RESOLVED] D2L Service Issues 9/26

UPDATE 11:13PM: Service has been restored. Users should now be able to access Desire2Learn.

UPDATE 2:57PM: There is a power outage currently impacting the DoIT DataCenter in Madison.  Technicians are working to restore power and service as soon as possible.

Beginning at 11:39AM on Saturday, September 26, 2015, users may encounter errors while trying to access or login to Desire2Learn. Learn@UW has been notified, and technicians are working actively to engage the issue. We will provide updates as we know more.

[RESOLVED] Sporadic D2L Access 8/15 – 8/17

Users may have experienced issues accessing Desire2Learn on Saturday, August 15th and Sunday, August 16th. Technicians discovered a network issue that was resolved at 8am on Monday, August 17th.
