Storage Maintenance Outage (6/1)

COMPLETE: The storage maintenance scheduled for June 1, 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM was finished ahead of schedule and service was restored at 4:30 PM.

On Saturday, June 1st, from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM (CST), Learn@UW will be performing storage maintenance on their servers. D2L will NOT be accessible during this 14 hour timeframe. Summer courses, especially ones held online, may be greatly affected by this outage, so please plan your course work accordingly.

Outage During D2L Maintenance Window (4/25)

On the scheduled, weekly maintenance window from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM this Thursday, April 25th, Learn@UW will be deploying Service Pack 9 to our D2L instance. During this window, access to D2L will be intermittent, and you may experience errors. If you are using D2L during this time frame, please plan your work accordingly.

Desire2Learn Maintenance Window (4/4)

On the scheduled, weekly maintenance window this Thursday, April 4th, Learn@UW will be deploying Service Pack 8 and some hotfixes to our D2L instance. However, because of the amount of work scheduled, this window is extended and will start at 4:00 AM rather than the usual 5:00 AM start time. The maintenance is still expected to end at 7:00 AM.

During this window from 4:00 AM to 7:00 AM, users may experience performance issues. If you are using D2L during this time frame, please plan your work accordingly.

Planned Outages Impacting D2L – Jan. 17 and Jan. 19

On Thursday, Jan. 17 from 5:00 – 7:00 AM UW-Whitewater campus will experience a rolling outage for various departmental IT systems that may impact D2L.

On Saturday, Jan. 19 from 7:00 – 12:00 PM there will be an extended IT services outage impacting all systems. During this timeframe Desire2Learn eGrading for Winterim Courses will also be unavailable.

iCIT Planned Outage, 1/10

iCIT has scheduled a planned outage of IT services on Thursday, January 10th from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM (CST). Services include internet, email, network, WINS, D2L, and other IT systems.

D2L access may be sporadic during this outage window, so please plan your course work accordingly. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact UW-W D2L Support.

January Planned Outage Rescheduled

UPDATE; Learn@UW has completed their storage migration ahead of schedule and access to Desire2Learn was restored at 12:34 AM (CST).

Due to unexpected technical issues, last night’s Desire2Learn outage was postponed and is now scheduled to start on Monday, January 7th, 2013 at 9:30 PM (CST) and end on Tuesday, January 8th, 2013 at 10:30 AM (CST). During this timeframe, D2L will not be available. Please plan your coursework accordingly.

Just to clarify, there was no outage of the Desire2Learn system last night as we originally announced (previous announcement located here). We apologize for the additional inconvenience this causes for your Winterim courses. If you have any questions or concerns about the outage, please contact UW-W D2L Support.

Planned D2L Outage in January 2013

Desire2Learn, our learning management system, is scheduled for an outage in order for Learn@UW to transition their servers to a new storage solution. The outage will start on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013 at 9:30 PM (CST) and end on Thursday, January 3rd, 2013 at 10:30 AM (CST). During this timeframe, D2L will not be available.

This will greatly affect Winterim courses, so please plan your course work accordingly. It is also suggested that you end any dropboxes, quizzes, or other deadlines a half hour before the outage’s start time (i.e., 9:00 PM CST) if there are items due on that day.

Please note that even though this is during the same window we would normally take an upgrade to a newer version of D2L, that is not the case for this outage. This is not an upgrade, and D2L will not be changing dramatically during the Learn@UW server transition.

Service Interruptions During Maintenance Window (11/29)

Learn@UW will be performing server maintenance this Thursday, November 29th during the weekly maintenance window, 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM. D2L will be available during this window; however, there may be intermittent service interruptions. If you are using D2L during this window, please plan your work accordingly.

UW-W Website Outage (11/15)

Starting at approximately 6:00 AM this morning (November 15th) and ending at approximately 10:30 AM, the UW-Whitewater website service was experiencing an outage after scheduled maintenance. This affected several web pages, including the D2L login page.

These service should be fully restored, and access to UW-W pages should be available. Thank you for your patience.

Upcoming Server Maintenance 11/15

iCIT will be performing server maintenance on Thursday, November 15th, from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM which will affect access to a number of services which are typically used by D2L.

The following services will be unavailable for approximately 15 minutes during this window:

University-hosted blogs (“Blogs@UWW”)
Distance Education streaming video archives
RSS feeds embedded into courses (“Feed2JS”)
Streaming Videos produced by the LTC
Websites using URL shortening (“GetURL”)
iTunes U podcasts
IM/Chat for some courses (“Jabber@UWW”)
Some course podcasts (“Podcast@UWW”)
Many course wikis (“Wiki@UWW”)
D2L Documentation (both instructor- and student-based)
