November 29th, 2009

So I hope you’ve enjoyed reading and responding to these blogs.  This will be the last for one for the semester:

The topic for this week’s blog is something I always do at the end of the semester.  I’d like you to reply to the following two questions:

1. What are two good movies you’ve seen in 2009?

2. What are the top 5 songs you listen to in the past 3 months?

juvenile JUSTICE??

November 8th, 2009

The following ARTICLE focuses on the how we should treat juveniles who commit heinous crimes in the U.S.A. Should we lock up kids for long-term sentences as well as life sentences? Does a 13-year old who murders someone deserve life in prison without parole? What do you think and why?

Surveillance Society

November 1st, 2009

Thought you might find the above VIDEO interesting.  Although there are alot of negative aspects of our current surveillance society, one has to admit that the footage caught by this particular surveillance camera was pretty important.  Do you think the majority of the surveillance we currently utilize in society is needed and why?

Question: Do you think President Obama deserves this award and why?

Before you answer read this ARTICLE on the actual facts surrounding the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize and watch this VIDEO of a recent debate on the subject.

Cold Case!

September 27th, 2009

Check out the following ARTICLE that focuses on the recent arrest of film writer and director Roman Polanski for rape.  You may say “What’s so interesting about that?” Well for starters the case in point occurred back in the late 1970’s.  Moreover, Polanski fled the USA back in 1977 after pleading guilty to the rape charge.  Trust me-it’s a pretty interesting case.

Question: What should happen? Should the case be thrown out or continued and why.
