After a rough 2-1 start to the season the Wisconsin Badgers have finally found their stride.
After the end of the 20-21 season, Jack Coan decided to enter the trade portal and got picked up almost immediately by Notre Dame. The next QB up next is Graham Mertz. Now Graham was all the hype after one great game in 2020 but has settled into the turbulence of college football.
The Wisconsin Badgers kicked off their 21-22 season facing the top tear Penn State. A battle of a game happened where the final ended not in the Badgers favor with their first loss 16-10. Two weeks later they were up against the highly talked about Notre Dame Fighting Irish also where their old QB Jack Coan is playing. Sadly, the Badgers got smacked 41-13 and that game was to be talked about never again.
It is no surprise that the BIG 10 has always been a competitive conference with top ranked Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin always being highly competitive. The Badgers are in the west divison with 5-2 Iowa.
We are going into week 10 of the season with only two games left in the season before the BIG 10 championship game and the Badgers have been on a six game winning streak.
Noteworthy key player is Braelon Allen is a freshman who carried the ball 25 times for 173 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday against Northwestern.
No. 18 ranked the Wisconsin Badgers plan to put on a show for the rest of the season but will that hold them enough for a decent bowl game?

Warhawk Volleyball held their Lisa Panici classic this weekend at Kris Russel Court. They played a triangular which means they played the two visiting teams while the other visiting teams played each other as well.
It is important to address that our Women’s Volleyball team is good, really good. They are currently ranked No. 9 in the NCAA division three rankings. When they started their season at the beginning of September till this weekend, they have no lost a match at home making it 15-0. Their record so far is 23-1 with their only loss coming to UW-Eau Claire on September 22 where the sets were 25-22, 25-19, 25-21.
This weekend they played two matches, on Friday they played Cornell (Iowa) and on Saturday they played Wheaton (Ill.).
On Friday I attended the match against Cornell and it was very exciting. I played volleyball in high school and play some sand volleyball but nothing compares to some deep rooted competitive volleyball. The Warhawks took the first set 25-9, just complete dominance. Cornell seemed caught up and in their heads from the beginning, but kudos to them for practically doubling their score on the second set but they still lost.
Senior Morgan Wardall is a 5’11 middle hitter who showed absolute dominance on Friday. I lost count on how many kills and blocks she had but it was a lot. She seemed to move across the court with finesse. 5’8 setter and senior Kellyann Sotiros was another Warhawk that played that her heart out on Friday.
The Warhawks swiftly took the third set in ease than it was game over for Cornell. If you haven’t been to a volleyball match I highly recommend it. They play two more games at home this weekend before the big WIAC conference tournament.

It has been a long year in waiting for golf fans, yet the weekend finally arrived. The 43rd Ryder Cup was held this past weekend on the Straits course at Whistling Straits, Haven, Wisconsin. Europe currently held the Ryder Cup after their last win in 2018 at Le Golf national. The Ryder Cup was originally scheduled on the 25-27 of September 2021, but due to the pandemic it got pushed back. Let’s break down the three day weekend.
Now the Ryder Cup is a match play event, with each match worth one point.
Day 1 (Friday) – 4 foursomes matches and 4 fourball (better ball) matches
There were 4 groups of 4 foursomes that played each other, 2 Americans and 2 Europeans are considered a foursome. After the morning event Team USA was in the lead 3-1. After the second session of the day Team USA extended their lead even more 6-2, which is the largest lead since 2004 Ryder Cup.
Day 2 (Saturday) – same set up as Friday
The teams played in foursomes again against each other because the best action to watch. At the end of the day the United States extended their lead 11-5 which is the largest lead after two days in Ryder Cup action.
Day 3 (Sunday) – 12 singles matches
The United States went 7-3-2 in singles matches to defeat Europe 19-9.
To say the most exciting thing about the Ryder Cup (coming from someone who doesn’t know golf that well) is that is happened in Wisconsin. Wisconsin is known for having beautiful golf courses and to have it in the peak of fall makes it even better. It brought revenue and attention to our great state for the weekend.
