Base Slime

I am going to be doing my next few posts on slime. Slime has been a craze that is sweeping social media by storm. There are different accounts on Instagram that have over 1 million followers just to watch slime videos. Since Instagram has a lot of younger followers, it has become very popular among middle and high school students. I am not sure where my interest in slime began exactly, but I know it started because of videos that I had seen on Instagram.

Base Slime-What you need: White Glue, Borax solution, Water, Lotion, and Shaving Cream.

Base Slime can be used to create other slimes. It is almost like the first step in all of the other slimes. Whether it is as simple as adding food coloring. This base slime is different from a clear base slime, which will be shown in the next post.

Step 1: Add 1 cup of glue, a splash of water, two pumps of lotion, and a dab of shaving cream. Mix this all together until one consistency. The consistency will be different depending on how much of the ingredients that you decide to add. You can really add as much of these ingredients as you’d like but the slime can turn out different.

Step 2: Slowly add the borax solution to your mixture. This mixture is two cups of warm water and one tablespoon of borax. You want to mix it until the borax is dissolved into the water. You want to make sure not to add too much solution because if you over activate the slime, it will ruin it.

Step 3: Once the slime starts to not stick to the side of the bowl, start kneading the slime with your hands. Try putting a little bit of the borax solution on your hands to help prevent the slime from sticking to your hands.

Once the slime is at a stretchy consistency and not sticking to your hands. It is complete!
