Hello,
Welcome back to my blog! This week we will be wrapping up the series talking about selling applications. I really hope this series has been informative and helpful for my readers. We kind of took a detour with this blog, but we are still talking about thrifting. Like I always say, thrifting and reselling are a perfect match. There are only so many thrift tips that i can give to you all. This week I will be focusing on the application Mercari. The application that I have the least amount of experience with selling on. Yet, I have noticed the growing popularity of the application. in the past year. I work at a store that has a shipping center/drop off location and I see multiple packages from Mercari being dropped off daily. I decided that it was time that I did some more investigating into this application and see if it would be a good application to sell items from the thrift on. I also wanted to breakdown the process of selling on there, like I do with all my other reviews. Read below for all the information about mercari.

Mercari is a e-commerce website that allows users to sell items effortlessly. The application was launched in 2013 in Japan and made the jump to United States shortly after. It has become extremely popular in Japan as it operates and thinks like eBay. The market share for e-commerce websites in Japan is taken up by Mercari at an estimated 94%. A feature allowed in Japan is the option to ship sold items anonymously through convenience stores. In the United States, shipping is allowed through the big three; FedEx, Ups, Usps. The customer base is around 100 million users. That is around the Poshmark number, but significantly lower than the market leader eBay.

As I mentioned in my eBay write up, I do not like there design. I think Mercari does this best of all the applications. It is very simple and easy to navigate. The application has a modern look and accessibility. I think this boils down to it being much newer than eBay. Mercari is smaller, but that doesn’t mean it is worse. You could sell a wide variety of items on here. The process is simple and you can list multiple items quickly. I would recommend that if you are really trying to get rid if something you would list your item on Mercari and eBay. Unlike Depop and Poshmark, you can really list a lot of variety of items. Mercari also has the best listing fees of all applications that I have discussed. There are no restrictions on amount of listings and the final fee is 10% of the sold price. It is a very good application that I highly recommend checking out.
