Going to SC

One thing I am very excited about moving to South Carolina is the warmer weather and being by the beach. I absolutely despise the cold and I always knew that I wanted to move somewhere where it was warm for the most part, all year round. The second thing that I am most excited about is being by the beach. The sun and beach are my places to be. My boyfriend and I are going to South Carolina in June for his sister’s wedding. We are going to be in Charleston for five days touring the city, touring different apartments, and filling in our days with a lot of exploring.

While we are there my boyfriend and I are there, we are going to tour the first apartment that we thought was perfect for us. As mentioned in my previous blog, it is called Grande Oak Parc Apartments. I am beyond excited to see the number of amazing things that this apartment can offer us. They have a pool, workout center, a coffee bar in the lobby, underground parking, everything we want, and all for a very reasonable price. This is great for all of our needs and wants in an apartment. As we keep looking, we will most likely tour more apartments that are a fit for us. We also plan on going on a lot of adventures and exploring Charleston to get more of a feel for where we will be living. There will be a lot of beach exploring, restaurant exploring, and hopefully check out some golf courses. The restaurants are something we are the most thrilled about. We love our seafood and we could not be more excited to be able to eat fresh seafood. Of course, couldn’t forget about the wedding as well! His sister will be getting married at Sarah Cameron’s house from Outer Banks. I thought that was pretty neat! Can’t wait to share my experience!

Finding a Job

I believe doing what makes you happy is always the route you should take in life. That is why I have decided to move without having a job lined up. It is tough knowing that I am moving and could potentially not have the perfect job lined up right away. Moving right after college can be stressful, but it is certainly doable. I am staying this summer in my hometown to work a lot and save up money for the apartment that my boyfriend and I will be living in, the reason being, why I am waiting to find a job at the moment. I will be working the job that I am currently working right now, over the summer, so I will not have to worry about finding a job during the summer. Just work, work, work and save, save, save. This will help save what I need to in order to start my journey down south.

One aspect of looking for a job is searching on different job sites to help you narrow down what you are looking for. I am starting to search on Indeed and LinkedIn to find different jobs out there that are either virtual or in South Carolina. Right now I am searching for social media managing jobs, event management jobs, digital marketing, and many more. I have a wide variety of experience in most of these jobs that I am looking at, which will help me narrow down what I will like and the different benefits that the job will provide me.

Organizing Process

The organizing process can be something a lot of people struggle with. While I am still in school, I have to organize my graduation process, find a job, still work at the job I have currently and finish off the summer with them, all while I am trying to start my moving process. It is a lot to juggle, that’s for sure! But, organizing is something that comes fairly easy to me and is something I need in order to keep myself neat and tidy. Lists and schedules are a huge part of organizing and I am going to show you how I organize, by using those tools.

Lists:

Essentially, lists are helpful for any situation. Whether you are packing for a trip and need to remember everything you intend to bring. Making a list initiates the process of getting things done and staying on top of what you need to remember. Another example of when I use lists is when I am prioritizing my day. So, when I have a lot to do on that particular day, I write myself a list. This helps your brain remember that you have to get it done. I like to cross off or checkmark whatever I am accomplishing to feel orderly and capable of performing all my tasks. Then I like reviewing my list after I finished. Many studies have shown in students that note-taking, in general, helps us distill the information we hear and remember it better than we would if we’d just heard or read it. For my moving process, I have to organize all my thoughts down onto a list. How I like to do it, is to divide up my thoughts into categories. For example, one list would be for packing, another would be for my summer schedule, another is figuring out a job… etc. Making lists are very helpful and it doesn’t hurt to start somewhere when planning!

Schedules:

Schedules are another essential way to help our brain memorize what we have that is occurring. An important event, a big project that is due, school, work. Whatever it may be, schedules are able to plan out your life however far in advance you want, which I think is the neat thing about them. You are able to plan out your future, without you even knowing it. In my organizing process, a schedule is ideal in order to figure out, schedule, and perform my moving out and moving in process.
