The Thickest One to rule us all – Shugoki Guide
Since Season 5 and the parry/guardbreak reworks Shugoki has been absolute trash tier. No mix ups, no soft feints, nothing. But that finally changed in Season 9. The Thicc Lad got a rework and now he’s a god among men. They gave this boy a whole new kit! New animations, new movesets, and gave him everything he didn’t have before. Soft feints and charged heavies and a viable demon’s embrace, oh my! No more passive hyper armor bs, but hyper armor on. every. attack. The headbutt now chains into attacks, the throws can transition to hugs, its everything we dreamed it would be. Now go, followers of the Thicc One,…

The OG Powerhouse Extraordinaire – Raider Guide
A shout from the mountains, the sound of an axe breaking bones and tearing flesh, and then, suddenly…. You’re dead in three hits and this beast of a man is literally tearing your head off. If you wish to be the tear-er and not the tear-ee, continue! Everyone else, form an orderly line and prepare for the afterlife. Raider is the Viking’s vanguard hero, standing head and shoulder over most other heroes in the game, and swinging an axe of the same size. This man is no joke. A single heavy attack from a Raider is upwards of 35 damage, almost 1.5 times that of a standard heavy. That means…

Sweep Men off their Feet! – A How-to Guide to Valkyrie
Alright lads, take this with a grain of salt. I don’t usually play heroes who use light attacks regularly. But Valkyrie is a stone cold badass, so she gets an exception. She’s earned her stripes a s a Viking, hitting every criteria needed. She’s brutal, deadly, and shouts at the top of her lungs. And shes got the horns, so… So Valkyrie is a Hybrid assassin/vanguard hero, and to date the only hero with a deflect and a standard guard. That’s two pluses already. Shes also got dodge lights in every direction and, I make no exaggeration, every variation of light and heavy combo. Triple heavy? Check. 2 lights and…

Breathe ’em and Weep – Gas Tactics for Caustic
Today, you learn how to play our one true lord. Beautiful. Now join me as a Caustic main, and reign terror and confusion on your enemies. Caustic is a Large-Rig character, meaning, like Gibraltar and Pathfinder, he’s one of the easier legends to land shots on. While this is a disadvantage, it shouldn’t come into play very often if you play him right. Caustic’s kit consists of gas traps and a gas grenade, and an immunity to his own traps. He can have 6 (SIX!) Traps down at a time, with a maximum of 3 ‘charges’ that refill when he throws them out. His ultimate is the grenade, a throwable…

And as March turns to April, Siege gets Weird
Hoooo boy. Embracing April Fool’s Day and it’s fringe community, Ubisoft decided to add a new game mode and some very out-there skins. Like, really out there: The game mode is a special Hostage, Plane only playlist, to save this guy: Yikes! Along with the game mode, there are a medley of skins, headgear, and charms to unlock. You get one special Alpha Pack for free, and one more if you complete the special challenge by destroying 40 attacker drones. That’s right, 40. I recommend picking either Bandit and setting up some quick shock wires, or Smoke since he has the least set up out of the limited defender choices…

One More Reason to Pick up those Energy Rounds – The Havoc Rifle is Here!
Bringing the energy weapon count up to an unimaginable 3, Apex introduced the Havoc Rifle last week. This sucker is lighter and more accurate than the Devotion, and has a shorter but still present spin-up time before firing. Taking all the standard rifle attachments, plus the “Turbocharger” Hop-Up attachment, it’s a force to be reckoned with at close to medium range. Using this gun myself left me a tad disappointed, as it had a similar fire rate to the Devotion but a much smaller magazine. I felt like I could never down a target without using 2-3 reloads worth of ammo, and the spin-up time always threw me off, just…
