It’s that time of the year! Lots of tests, exams, quizzes, papers, and stress. This can lead to feeling super overwhelmed and that can result in burnout. Here are some helpful tips to help you beat burnout and finish out the semester strong!

Exercise!

Exercise is proven to improve mental health, which will help you stay motivated throughout the school year. Mental health is so important to take care of and exercise is one way to help you take care of it. You do not have to be a powerlifter or exercise fanatic to get some into your daily routine!

Here are 3 fun ways to add some exercise to your day:

  1. Go for a walk! Instead of driving to the nearest coffee shop, take a walk with friends.
  2. Try swimming! Swimming is easy on your joints and a fun way to add some exercise to your day.
  3. Play frisbee at the park! Frisbee is a fun game where all you need is a frisbee.  You can grab a friend or 2 and throw around a frisbee or take up ultimate frisbee and find a park near you.

Whether it is going for a walk with friends or hitting the gym, there are many ways you can incorporate exercise into your daily routine.

Get a Good Night’s Rest!

Sleep is so important! This being said, it is important to get enough sleep every night and stay consistent with a sleep routine. Having a consistent sleep routine and getting an adequate amount of sleep will help you to think more clearly in school or work and help you to stay more motivated in class.

An added bonus is that getting enough sleep will boost your immune system! Nobody likes being sick! Sleep is so important and having a consistent sleep cycle will benefit you in the long run.

Eat Healthy!

“You are what you eat.” Haven’t we all heard that before? Well, in some aspect that is true. Diet is so so so important and the foods you eat have a direct impact on you. I’m not saying that eating a fish will turn you into a fish, but eating fish such as tuna will help you with memory and concentration due to the Omega-3 and fatty acids in it. So next time you go to reach for a snack, try some blueberries or nuts which are full of vitamins, antioxidants, and are high in nutrition!

Here are some healthy swaps you can make to add some nutrition to your diet:

  1. Ice Cream —> Frozen Yogurt
  2. Potato Chips —> Popcorn
  3. Soda —> Sparkling Water

Remember it is important to fuel your body and listen to what it needs. You know your body best and what makes it feel good and what makes you happy.

Spend Time With Friends and Family!

Spending time with those you love is so important. Remember, a loved one is only a text or phone call away. Spending time with those you love will increase serotonin and reduce your stress levels. Try to dedicate one night a week to spending time with friends or family. You will be amazed at how much better you feel surrounded by those who love and care about you!

These are just a few tips to help you stay motivated and take care of yourself this year. Remember that YOU are so important and taking care of yourself is the #1 priority! Have a great school year, Warhawks!
