TikTok Changes Each Social Media Platform

TikTok Changes Each Social Media Platform

TikTok took over the Internet during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the early 2000s, social media has been around. It has been mostly writing posts, posting pictures, and connecting with people outside of your inner circle. Now, TikTok has shifted the social media world into a video platform versus writing and posting pictures.

TikTok has created the trend of the day in the life, morning/night routine, what I eat in a day and food trends that result in anyone being able to post a less than 30-second video and go viral. As long as someone uses a trending music sound, it can show up on anyones For You Page. These 30-second videos enhance the algorithm to make sure that certain people can see each video. This is different from other platforms like Instagram because certain posts only show up if you follow the person.

The trends have changed from status updates on Facebook, aesthetic photos on Instagram, and writing opinions on Twitter to posting dances on TikTok. Addison Rae, Charli D’amelio, and Anna Sitar have made TikTok dances go viral. TikTok has become a smaller vlog platform like YouTube. This has changed the other social media platforms to develop “shorts” into their platform so that creators can grow on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and more.

Some dancing trend songs include:

  • Freakumdresschallenge
  • SexyBack
  • Man! I feel like a woman!
  • aliceaupaysdesmariages

Most of these trends and so many more are becoming trends because of how many people use the sound. This is unique because other social media platforms rely on likes, comments, and following.

Even though TikTok only came out a few years ago, it has slow impacted cooking, dancing, and everyday life. Check out my other blog posts to see the trending TikTok recipes!

  • TikTok has created the trend of dancing to audio files through a video that correlates the audio with the directed video. Different trends that involve dancing to an audio have made certain people famous such as Addison Rae and the Damelio sisters. Other platforms such as Instagram have changed to this algorithm since it creates an audience for each topic within TikTok. It’s interesting to see how the TikTok algorithm changes based on what videos the user likes and follows and TikTok does a great job of catering to those likes and interests.
