Why Generation Z Could be Gen TikTok

Why Generation Z Could be Gen TikTok

Does anyone know who decides how each generation is named? Generation Z has taken over the Internet and specifically TikTok regarding social media. Social media has impacted how the generation will be and how society acts. Everyone can interact with anyone and businesses can target select audiences who would buy their products.

TikTok influencers like Charli D’mallio, Addison Rae, and Noah Beck are all Generation Z and have started trends that have impacted society. Whether it is fashion trends, makeup trends, dancing trends, or anything else, it started from these huge influencers that trickled down to viewers who wanted to be like that. Society relies on influencers to start trends that they can copy and use in their daily lives.

Baby Boomers are known for their old-fashioned ways, the wars that they were around for, and what they used to do for fun before dinner time. Generation X and Y are known for their music tastes, trendy fashion choices (at the time), and how they didn’t rent apartments, they became parents and bought a house. However, Generation Z is known for their social media trends and how they’ve utilized TikTok. It is such a different way of looking at a generation and it will be known as the social media generation for years to come.

Generation Z will be known as Generation TikTok or Generation Social Media because of the huge impact that it has on our society. I think that this generation has the power to change what the future generations will be and how we act as a society.

TikTok Dancing Trends

TikTok Dancing Trends

TikTok became the most known app in 2020 once the COVID-19 pandemic hit. It was a new video platform based solely on videos.

TikTok dance trends were one of the only things that got people through the tough time of uncertainty. It was fun, different, and a way for people to connect when they couldn’t leave their house.

Some of the best TikTok dances came from random people who just wanted to be creative and use the outlet to express themselves. And to their advantage, those dances went viral and it even caused them to become famous. Addison Rae and the D’amelio sisters appeared to be “normal” people who just downloaded TikTok like everyone else. Then, they became viral and now they have over a million followers and have their own TV shows on Hulu. TikTok dancing trends have changed people’s lives forever.

Here are some of the most famous dance trends over the last two years:

  • Savage (Megan Thee Stallion)
  • Oui
  • Savage Love (Jason Derulo
  • Linda and Heather Theme Song
  • I wanna getcha home
  • Paytiiii

Overall, TikTok dances have encompassed society. Music has even been affected by these dance trends. Artists have been able to release music on TikTok and actually go viral and lead to them being on the radio. If the dance that people are doing with it can help it, it can make someone famous. TikTok dances are slowly taking over social media and slowly taking over even the bar and club scene. This will change how society even views music.

More Recipes TikTok Hyped Up During COVID-19

Everyone around the world has been in lockdown and has been quarantined throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. You can only watch so much TV, make so many crafts, and go on so many virtual hangouts.

To make the time go by fast during the day, people downloaded the rising social media app called TikTok. It is a platform that people get lost scrolling through but helped people forget what was going on in the world.

Something that I got into while in lockdown during 2020 was looking at recipes on TikTok. I was so inspired by people sharing the recipes that they grew up with or that they created. TikTok has the potential to give people a space to be themselves that a lot of social networks do not have anymore.

Social media has become so structured that you can’t post anything without being worried about what people are going to say. TikTok also has those factors, however, people are ignoring the trolls and posting whatever makes them happy. And, people have been posting content that Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms do not see.

Here are a few more recipes that blew up throughout the months of March and April of 2020 that I had to try.

Frothed Coffee

  • 2 Tbsp instant coffee
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp hot water
  • 3/4 cup hot or iced milk

Combine coffee, sugar, and hot water in a large bowl. The best thing to do is use an electric mixer or whisk it by hand. It will take a long time! Mix until frothy, it should look like whipped cream. Then you just add the mixture with your milk and enjoy!

Homemade Coffee Cake

  • 8 Tbsp unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 Tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups of flour
  • 1 Tsp of salt
  • 2 Tsp of baking powder
  • 1/4 Tsp of baking soda
  • 1 1/4 cups sour cream

For the crumble topping:

  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 1/3 brown sugar
  • 2 Tsp cinnamon
  • 8 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 cup flour

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare the crumble topping (whisk sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon and then add butter and stir to combine. Add flour and use a fork to toss until it’s in crumble form). Mix the butter, sugar, and eggs for the cake. Beat in the dry ingredients and sour cream. Transfer the batter to a 9×13 pan and spread into an even layer. Bake the coffee cake for 40-50 mins.

During quarantine, I developed a love for cooking and trying new recipes. It has helped me relieve stress and makes me very happy.

All of these photos are photos that I took when I made it. I, unfortunately, do not have the account of the TikTok creators who posted these recipes, but I did not create them myself.

How TikTok Impacted Cooking in COVID-19

How TikTok Impacted Cooking in COVID-19

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak. With that, quarantine got everyone a little stir-crazy. For me, like a lot of other people my age, I downloaded the social media app TikTok. This app became different from all the other social media platforms
