My Fourth of July project;  getting the organ started for “Music in the Air.”   Exciting, rushed, improvisational carpentry!   Pictured sitting  in the UW-Whitewater scene shop.  The Chinese hanging on the left is from our production of “A Scrap of Paper.”  The bit of groundrow seen above the piano is from “She Stoops to Conquer.”

Photo from last night’s final dress rehearsal of “Almost, Maine.”  The scene is “Getting It Back,” with Atticus Maasz and Sam Zaddack pictured.  Lighting is by student Sean Jenson, costumes by student Julia Boarini.

Starting in on the paint elevations for “Music in the Air.”  That’s stage right on the drafting table.

Drafted elevations for “Music in the Air.”  Not shown are the 4 rolling towers.  A final touch will be changing the tops of the flip panels to be a little more architectural — gables, clock tower, that sort of thing.

The deck of “Almost, Maine,” viewed from the very cramped catwalks of the Hicklin Theatre.  That’s student Alison Blair painting the edges of the planks.

“Music in the Air” Sketchup rough sketch with some revisions to the stair cases.   Flats shown will eventually have cutout edges;  this drawing is primarily to give the director a sense of the spatial relationships going on.

Quick and dirty Google SketchUp model for “Music in the Air.”  The director and I have been discussing the stair/balcony/door combo seen stage right.  The stage left stair arrangment is a possible alternative.  The upstage vertical panels flip 180 to reveal a different paint treatment.  There’s no backstage, just a crossover behind the wall, and the two large polygonal structures right and left are the green room and equipment room.  There is no fly space, either — after all, we’re doing this in a tent. . .
