Warhawks Advance to the Elite 8

The Warhawk women’s basketball team started the NCAA Championship with a win against Ripon with a final score of 58-34. In the next round they faced Illinois Wesleyan and came out on top 72-54 to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. In the Sweet Sixteen, the Warhawks faced Smith College. In the very close game, regulation ended in a tie, forcing overtime. In the closing seconds of overtime, tied 76-76, it was Smith’s ball. On the inbound, Rebekah Schumacher stole the inbound pass and scored the go-ahead layup with 0.5 seconds remaining. The Warhawks advance to the Elite 8 with a 78-76 victory. They will face UW-Oshkosh with hopes of advancing to the Final Four.

  • I love following along with the women’s basketball team. They are doing amazing this year!! Moving on to the final four is truly amazing, and I cannot wait to see how far they go. This team is truly dedicated and have a great team chemistry, which is also so entertaining to watch.

    • I have to admit that I don’t follow other UWW sports teams as much as our football team, but congrats to the women’s team! I wish them luck.

  • Thank you for the updates on the Women’s basketball team. I was not there so this blog post kept me up to date. That is really exciting that they will be moving on to the final four. It looks like they are doing very well and if they keep up their hard work it should end well.
