Warhawks Baseball Beats UW-La Crosse. Softball Falls to UW-Stevens Point

Baseball

The Warhawk baseball team traveled to La Crosse on Friday to take on the UW-La Crosse Eagles in a double-header. Westin Muir started on the mound for the Warhawks in the first game of the day. The Warhawks got an early 2-0 lead in the third inning and scored six more in the fourth to make it a 8-1 ballgame. The Eagles scored four more throughout the game but it wasn’t enough to come out on top, and the Warhawks won 9-5. 

In the second game of the day, Kade Lancour got the start. UW-La Crosse scored two runs in the second inning, but the Warhawks quickly put four runs on the board in the top of the third. The Eagles scored one in the bottom of the third. From that point on the Warhawks were in control and won 7-3.

The Warhawks will take on UW-La crosse on Saturday in another double-header.

Softball

The UW-Whitewater softball team played a double-header at home against UW-Stevens Point on Friday. UW-Stevens Point got an early run in the second inning and from that point on, both offenses seemed to stall. UW-Stevens Point took game one 1-0.

In the second game of the day, the Pointers were able to get their offense going, but the Warhawks were not. UW-Stevens point shut out the Warhawks again, this time winning 6-0.

The Warhawks will be back in action on Tuesday hosting UW-Stevens Point for another double-header

The UW-Whitewater gymnastics team placed fifth overall at the National Championships in Ithaca, NY. Sarah Knetzke and Emily North both won individual championships, Knetzke in the balance beam and North in all-around. 

Baseball

The Warhawk baseball team won six of seven games in Pensacola, FL. They play their first home game on Monday facing WIAC opponent UW-Stevens Point in a double header. 

Tennis

The men’s tennis team capped off their spring break trip with a 3-0 record. The team is 14-1 overall. They will be competing in the Midwest Invitational on April 1.

Women’s Basketball Receive At-Large Tournament Bid and Baseball Starts Their Season

Women’s Basketball

The UW-Whitewater women’s basketball team received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. Whitewater will host Ripon in the first round in Kachel Gymnasium on Friday at 7:30 pm. The winner of this game will face either Depauw or Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday at 7 pm in Kachel Gymnasium. This is the Warhawk women’s basketball teams’ 13th appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the last 14 years.

The Whitewater Baseball team is kicking off their season traveling to San Antonio, Texas this weekend to play a four game series against Trinity. The Warhawks were ranked sixth in the D3baseball.com preseason top 25.
