All of us have experienced summer boredom at one point or another, especially being college students. The initial summer excitement wears off, and you now realize that you still have a few months left until you’re on campus again. Well, have no fear, I’m here to help with a few summer activities you can do to keep you outside and entertained.
Drive-in Movie
A drive-in movie is the ultimate summer classic activity. Gather your friends, pack up cozy pillows and blankets, and transform the trunk of your car into the perfect movie viewing spot. As the sun sets and the screen lights up, you settle in and enjoy the magic of cinema beneath the open sky. Pro tip: stock up on your favorite snacks beforehand to avoid concession stand prices.
Waterpark Day
Did you know that Wisconsin is the waterpark capital of the world? It is home to over 20 waterparks, most located in the Wisconsin Dells. That gives you plenty of options to find the perfect waterpark for you to escape from the summer heat while still getting that good old vitamin D. Can’t figure out where to go? Our ultimate waterpark guide blog is the best resource for park suggestions.
Pickleball
Pickleball is the perfect choice when you want to get your body moving without feeling like a workout. On top of that, it’s super easy to learn and pretty inexpensive since you only need a paddle and a few pickleballs. To make it more exciting or social, you can play with a partner, join a recreational team, or join a local game at your neighborhood parks. However you decide to play, this is a great way to get exercise and connect with others. Who knows, this could be your new favorite hobby.
Stargazing
Stargazing is a relaxing and fascinating way to enjoy the summer nights. With warmer weather and clearer skies, it’s the perfect time to grab a blanket, head to a quiet spot away from city lights, and look up. Whether you’re looking for the Big Dipper or watching for shooting stars, stargazing offers you a chance to sit in peace and enjoy nature’s beauty. Bring along a telescope or use one of many stargazing apps to enhance the experience. I suggest the Skyview app; it’s free and super fun to use.
Farmers Market
Are you a big foodie? Farmers markets are a great way to satisfy your taste buds while also supporting your local community. The biggest perk is that you don’t have to drive far since most towns have their own farmers markets. If you’re wondering which one to go to, I recommend the Madison farmers market because of their infamous hot and spicy cheese bread. You have to try it at least once in your life. In need of more suggestions, this link has all the Wisconsin Farmers Markets listed.
With all these widely different options, you can take advantage to enjoy the rest of your summer to the fullest extent. Go grab your friends and get out and explore what nature and your local community have to offer. Have fun adventuring, everyone!
