Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Hannah Johnson and my pronouns are she/her. I’m a junior with a major in Marketing with a digital marketing emphasis. I really enjoy working out, staying active, reading, hanging out with friends, and being outside!

Tell us a little bit about your department.

I work for UC Graphics and Marketing as a Marketing Assistant! Our department provides graphic design, advertising, and marketing solutions to the UC!

What does an average day look like working for the UC? What does your position entail?

An average workday for me here at the UC consists of making plans for the social media platforms, putting up UC posters around campus, taking photos for the social media posts, making marketing plans, posting on the Instagram feed, writing blog posts, and so much more. Every shift I’m working on something different so it just depends on the day!

Why should students visit the UC?

Students should visit the UC because it has the most welcoming environment out of all the buildings on campus, in my opinion. There are so many different things to do in the UC; study, eat, participate in the different events we have going on, and it’s overall just a chill place to hang out with your friends!

How will your position at the UC help you in your future career?

As a Marketing Assistant, I am gaining knowledge and skills that will prepare me for my career in the Marketing workforce after graduation. This job gives me the opportunity to gain experience while also giving me a taste of what the Marketing career path entails.

Explain a little about the connections you have made working in the UC.

Working in the UC has led me to meet so many new faces, not only co-workers but the students who visit the UC too! The UC really is a welcoming place for all students and I have only had positive interactions with people at the UC during my time working here so far! I’ve learned a lot from the others that work in my department and around the UC as well!

How do you balance school, work, extracurricular activities, and a social life?

Balancing all of these activities can be overwhelming at times, but it has made me strengthen my time management skills. I try to set certain times of the day for all of these activities so that I have enough time to fit them all into my day. Something that really helps me is having a planner and setting reminders for myself on my phone.
