I was thinking the other day about how young entrepreneurs are often self-focused. This quality often gets a bad reputation for its ability to divide relationships and create an air of bloated "ego," but there is another not-so-great outcome for this habit. Solopreneurs are often overly competitive... they are so busy trying to be the next best thing they forget to support those around them with the same dreams.

    Taking criticism

    November 22, 2019 /

If you keep yourself passionate, but evaluative. It is with this mindset you…

    5 Steps to Goal Achievement

    November 20, 2019 /

Goal setting is an incredibly rewarding, but often times nerve-racking experience. You set up goals and then stare them down with fear of failure until one day you may give up, or one day you finally knock it down. Why hasn’t someone made a step-by-step sure fire way to make sure goals are realistic and manageable? Well, now I have! I have always encountered anxiety when trying to fulfill my personal missions, often times being overzealous or maybe even underwhelming. BUT NOW… I follow this brief, five-step process each time I set a goal and since I have started everything has changed. Give it a shot! 1. Define the goal…

    November 14, 2019 /

If you define yourself as a self-starter or independent thinker, you may think the idea of taking the time to find and pursue an internship is a waste. I too thought an internship may not be for me... but then I found one that opened my eyes.

    November 8, 2019 /

Often times as young entrepreneurs, we find setting aside time for friends, family, life, or even eating to be a difficult time. I have always laughed at business people wearing low glasses or pencils in their buns who say, "I'll just pencil you in" for a simple lunch break or family adventure. Until now, I never saw the value in penciling in my personal life and only reserved the date book for professional matters. I AM NOW A SCHEDULING QUEEN.

    3 social producers to follow

    November 3, 2019 /

In my time trying to develop my own social presence, I have found it is incredibly useful to find accounts and producers worth attempting to replicate. Often times the people I choose to model my accounts after I have met in person. I find it is also important to make sure you and this model have similar values.

    Trusting the process

    October 27, 2019 /

Lately, as I am coming to a close on my college days, I have been thinking about my aspirations and goals with who I have come to be over the past couple of years. I have learned I am someone who works better independently and likes to have creative control and claim to her work. This is why I know with my whole heart I belong in the freelance creative field.

If you are unfamiliar what a "capstone" is, I will give you the skinny. Basically, this is the final project that caps off my college career. It is a single media project that demonstrates my skills as an electronic media student. If I fail this, I don't graduate.

Do something big that terrifies you.

    October 21, 2019 /

I was very active in the volunteering community when I was in high school and the early parts of my college career. When I got my first job at the television station however, I had to give up my free time to focus on my portfolio and my job. I told myself I needed to take a new road and begin a journey separate from my life norm. I wanted to find a way to service my soul, while servicing others.
