Something that college students overlook when it comes to scheduling out their lives is the aspect of balance between whatever you have going on. That could include schoolwork, having a job, and a social life. Balance is a useful skill to have when you are busy all of the time.

Something that can help you balance things in your life can include:

  • Create a schedule for yourself: I personally have a day that I call a reset day. This day is for me to organize what needs to get done during the week, and organize my events I have going on for the week.
  • Reward yourself: remember to give yourself a break and don’t overwhelm yourself to the point of harming your mental health.
  • Try not to take on too much: It’s okay to say no sometimes! Sometimes I need to remind myself of this, remember you can’t be in two places at once.
  • Have some fun!: make sure you take time to be social or do things you enjoy. See your friends and your family. You are not meant to be working or doing school work 24/7. Life your life.

Reminding myself of these things really help me get through the tough and stressful times during the school year.

As I mentioned earlier, I have a specific day of the week that I call my “reset” day. This day of the week for me is Monday. On my “reset” days I do things like clean my room, do chores around the house, get ahead on homework, and organize my schoolwork and events I’m doing for the week. Since I’ve started doing this, my stress has gone down a lot.

Taking time for yourself is important, and having balance in your life is something that will help your stress levels significantly.

  2. Your title and your description is very creative.. I also took a minute to read this and it has gave me good insight. I hope to use this in the future and I hope that these tips can help me be a better person I am today. The fact that you’re giving lessons out to help balance and managing peoples times is very strategic and helpful when it comes to real life situations

  3. I like the idea of scheduling and it logically is a smart thing to do. But scheduling for me just makes it seem like I’m living life dictated by a time frame. It takes the joy out of life doing things by a set agenda. With all the useless home work I’m assigned, I still don’t understand how others get that “college experience” of doing other things.

  4. Loved this post! As a busy college student, I really appreciate the tips and reminders on how to keep my life organized and stress levels low! Also, I loved that you mention that you have a reset day, mine are on Sundays and its my favorite day because I just clean, relax, and get myself nice and organized for the week so the rest of my week isn’t so chaotic and stressful.

  5. I love the idea of a “reset” day and I am definitely going to implement that into my weekly rituals that I already do. I think this would provide less stress in my life since it would be a day to get things done while also relax and reward myself like the other suggestions in this blog post state. Balance is an important concept for any lifestyle, and I feel that I could work on this in order to keep my stress down. I will be utilizing these tips mentioned in the blog post moving forward.

  6. I really like the tips and points you made throughout this post. I think as a working college student you forget how important it is to prioritize yourself. So much of life at this age is so overwhelming and it’s easy to feel like it’ll never stop being that way. I’ve struggled a lot with prioritizing my mental health and just myself in general throughout the entire time I’ve been attending school. I think a reset day is very important to have, especially if every other day is filled with work or school work. It’s easy to give up “me time” when you feel like you don’t have time for everything in your life, but I think it’s more important to prioritize that time instead. I think your post and blog so far has done a good job at pushing that same idea.

  7. Hey Kacee, this is a great post. This is something that I’ve really focused on within the last year. Taking time to reset and prepare for the days to come is essential to my mental well-being. I’ve noticed blocking out my time in Google Calendar really helps me paint a picture of what I need to accomplish during my days and when I will get them done. This also helps me gauge how long it takes me to complete my tasks which is beneficial.

    Great post! Loving your blogs.
