10 Things to do when you have a bad day, coming from Karlee

You could say that this past week has not been one of my best.  I’ve changed my view and decided to look on the bright side and think of ways I can turn those days upside down.  I am here to tell you how I

Beat the Bloat

Working out and eating right is the perfect equation to feeling and looking your best. I can’t say I always eat my veggies and drink lots of water, but I try my best. Lately, I can’t seem to fight the bloating feeling I have, even when I am eating right! Here are some tips on how to “beat the bloat”:

beat the bloatShake, shake….don’t! I love to eat veggies freshly steamed with a dash of salt. Harmless right? Wrong. Salt contains sodium, whi
ch is bad for the heart when over-consumed. Adding salt to your diet can be that little trigger that brings on the bloating because the sodium causes your body to retain water, making you feel more full…but not in a good way.

Drink up, on water of course. You might think that drinking 100 ounces of water in a day will make you feel MORE bloated, but that isn’t true in the long run. Drinking plenty of water each day helps in many ways. One of the ways is that it helps prevent constipation, which could be a major reason as to why you feel like your belly is about to blow up. So drink as much of nature’s goodness or eat more foods that contain a high content of water, like cucumbers or watermelon.

Change your favorite vegetable. I eat broccoli like it is about to become extinct. Guess what? Broccoli is one of the top vegetables that increase bodily gases which results to that bloated belly, and sometimes a few unpleasant fluffs from behind. Other foods that can cause these issues are beans and onions. I am not saying “Don’t ever eat them!” just try to eat them in smaller quantities to avoid feeling like Santa after Christmas.

Fiber, fiber, and more fiber. If you have read my previously popular blog “What is your waste telling you” then you already know you should add more fiber to your diet to help relieve constipation. Add more fruits and high-fiber foods to your diet to keep those pipes clean and your tummy lean.

Last but not least, enjoy life. Sometimes a simple bloated belly comes from being stressed and taking on life in bigger chunks than you can handle which results to big gulps of air being swallowed. It sounds silly, but it’s true. Take a deep breath, gather your thoughts, and slow down. Enjoy the little things, like smaller gulps of air!
