Why it is Important to Meal Prep

Meal prepping is the concept of preparing meals ahead of time rather than the day of. As mentioned in our blog titled “Tips for Meal Prepping” this concept has become particularly popular due to the many benefits it has. However, what we did not cover in that blog is why meal prepping is so important and how it can benefit you. In this blog we will discuss why you should meal prep and how it can improve your overall health and eating habits.

Benefits of Meal Prepping:
● Time Saver
○ One of the primary benefits of meal prepping and why it tends to be a
popular tactic in the kitchen is because it is a huge time saver. A great
way to start meal prepping is to pick one day of the week, such as
Sunday, to do all of your meal prep and set aside an allotted amount of
time to complete it. Cooking in bulk saves time thinking about what meal
you will make the next day and saves time cooking during the week. Now
you can go to sleep Sunday night knowing you won’t have to worry about
making dinner after a long day of work.

● Money Saver
○ Eating out can be very pricey. Often people can find themselves eating out
multiple times of the week due to the fact that they do not know what to
make for dinner or simply do not have the time or energy to cook after a long day of work. When you meal prep you know exactly what you will be eating every single day of the week. Overall, this will be a big money saver as you do not have to go out to eat during the week.

● Reduces Stress
○ Figuring out what you will eat for dinner each night can be a huge
stresser. Meal prepping can help reduce the stress that comes with trying
to eat healthier. Knowing that you will have dinner prepared each night
frees up your mental stress and willpower.

● Prevents Boredom
○ Oftentimes I find myself eating the same meals over and over each week.
This is because when it comes time for dinner I want it fast and easy. Taking the time to plan out your meals in advance will take you out of your comfort zone! Knowing that you will have to prepare all your meals in advance gives you the time to try new recipes every week so that you can avoid eating spaghetti for every meal.

● Prevents Food Waste
○ If you are concerned about food waste then meal prepping is the
technique for you! Meal prepping allows you to make just the right portion
sizes for each meal every week. This reduces the amount of excess food
that ends up in your trash can later.

Overall, there are many important reasons why you should consider meal prepping on a weekly basis. I hope you enjoyed these reasons to start meal prepping. Remember to avoid your temptations of eating out and take the time to meal prep on your day off. You will not regret it!

Do not get discouraged.
