Personnel Announcement: Chris O’Connor

Chris O’Connor has given notice that he will be leaving UW-Whitewater for a network architect position at a firm in Brookfield. Chris’s last day on campus will be Thursday, October 6.

Chris has been with ICIT for more than 11 years and currently manages Microsoft Exchange, the Windows Systems and Ironport,  the campus’s Ironport anti-spam system. As the campus “Postmaster,” Chris also  plays a central role in preventing and mitigating phishing scams and viruses that target our campus email users. Over the years, he has  managed many successful projects, including this past spring’s Exchange 2013 upgrade.

Good luck Chris. We hope to see a Warhawks cap added to your hat collection.

HPSM Testing

The Help Desk will begin parallel testing of HPSM on Monday, September 26. Tier one technicians will use HPSM in the QUA environment as the primary system for logging tickets. Tickets that that are not resolved on first contact will be entered into the current ticketing system for escalation purposes. During the testing process, Help Desk staff will assess areas where content is still missing (i.e. knowledgebase articles). Jason Dirden will contact service owners regarding missing content. Please exercise patience with Help Desk staff as they complete the testing process in addition to providing support to the campus.

Welcome Louann Gilbertson

Please welcome our newest team member, IT Security and Compliance Officer, Louann Gilbertson. Her first day in the office was Wednesday, September 14.

As the IT security officer, Louann is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of IT security policies and and regulatory compliance, controls and programs for the campus. She comes to ICIT from a private insurance company in the Madison area where she worked in a similar IT security role. Along with her enterprise-level IT security experience, she also has experience working with the stringent IT security standards of the Department of Defense and other federal agencies. Prior to work in IT security, Louann was an applications developer.

Louann’s position is shared between UW-Whitewater and UW-Platteville. (Go Pioneers Warhawks!) As a result, she will split her time between both campuses. She will be on the UW-Whitewater campus at least one day per week (Wednesdays), and will also work remotely. She can be contacted via phone or Jabber when she is working remotely.
