Hello ICIT, I felt that it would be awkward and self-centered to write this blog post in the 3rd person, so here it goes!

I am sad to say that my final day with ICIT will be on Friday, August 13th. I have accepted a new position that will keep me closer to home and cut down on the long commute from Germantown to Whitewater.

I joined ICIT in May of 2017 as the Senior Communication Specialist. Over these past 4+ years, I worked to improve the perception of ICIT among the UW-W campus and drive home the idea that “ICIT is your technology partner.”

Some of the proudest moments during my time here has been growing the footprint of ICIT campus relations through SOAR events, The Tech Open House, Social Media, and our Governance groups. I am also proud of the updated communication channels that we have worked to improve including a modern Connect IT newsletter and the updated IT Service Pages.

My new opportunity will be with Northwestern Mutual as the Manager of Digital and Printed Media. I will be responsible for all communications with customers, both through print and digital channels. This includes onboarding new types of work, acting as the relationship owner with key partners on new projects, and leading the cooperation and partnership of external vendors to support team goals.

I would like to say thank you to everyone on the ICIT team for making these 4 years truly special. I was fortunate to work with many of you on numerous projects, several were true collaborations. A special thank you to the managers and the LTC team for your kindness and support during my time here. Finally, I want to thank Elena for giving me this opportunity and for always pushing me to bring out my best.

I will miss you all!

George Vu’s final day with ICIT will be on Tuesday, August 10th. On behalf of the entire ICIT organization, we would like to wish George the very best in his next opportunity.

George joined the ICIT team a little over 14 months ago as the Director of Administrative Information Systems. He was immediately plunged into the deep end during an unprecedented global pandemic.

Some of George’s proudest accomplishments included building strong relationships with business leaders and their departments, developing an electronic method to request, monitor, and manage project requests, and coordinating ICIT resource efforts for COVID-initiated projects.

In his new opportunity, George will be working for Advocate Aurora Health.  His role will focus on partnering with stakeholders to develop comprehensive technology solutions, managing vendor and partner relationships, supporting procurement processes including contract negotiations, and other technology initiatives driven by the organization.

Please take some time this week to congratulate George on his new opportunity!

Kevin Hill’s final day with ICIT will be on Friday, June 11th. On behalf of the entire ICIT organization, we would like to wish Kevin the very best in his next opportunity.

A UW-W graduate, Kevin joined ICIT in February of 2018 as a Front End Developer for the Web Team. His main duties consisted of implementing new website designs, website maintenance, and monitoring/improving site accessibility

Some of Kevin’s proudest accomplishments included helping build and launch the UW-W online programs website, redesigning the program pages, and improving UW-W’s website accessibility.

In his new opportunity, Kevin will be working with Crescendo Collective, a digital marketing agency based out of Milwaukee, WI. As their Front End Developer, he’ll be responsible for building and designing landing pages for clients, in addition to developing templates through a CMS.

Kevin would like to say “thank you to the entire ICIT family for such a memorable and rewarding experience. I’ve grown so much as a developer in this role, and I’m really grateful for my time here. I wish you all the best, and I’ll still be living in Whitewater, so don’t be a stranger!”

Mitchell McGlinn’s final day with ICIT will be Friday, May 14th. On behalf of the entire ICIT organization, we would like to wish Mitchell the very best in his next opportunity.

Mitchell first started with ICIT as a student in September of 2017 where his main duties were assisting the front office with chargebacks and reorganization. He then accepted an LTE position in July where he took on additional responsibility, mainly working on budget analysis.

In November of 2018, Mitchell transitioned into the role of Financial Specialist. His main responsibilities included reviewing financial accounts, creating and reviewing budgets, and maximizing ICIT’s overall financial productivity.

Perhaps his most vital contribution came over the last few years where he worked to navigate our budget during some of the most volatile financial times for UW-Whitewater.

In his new opportunity, Mitchell will be working for an organization called Intervarsity, an international Christian ministry headquartered in Madison. As the Reporting Analyst/Staff Accountant he will be doing part accounting mixed with design and improvement of their financial reporting systems.

Mitchell would like to say “thank you all so much for allowing me to be a part of your team for the past few years. I have learned so much from my time here and I am incredibly grateful to have worked alongside each of you!”

On behalf of the entire ICIT organization, we would like to welcome Jeffrey (Jeff) Thomas as the new Assistant Director for Learning Technology with the LTC.

Jeff’s primary responsibilities will include:

• Consult with Deans’ Offices and various other academic and non-academic campus leaders to identify and meet their unit needs regarding campus technology.
• Relate their feedback to ICIT Service owners and leadership so ICIT can plan and align instructional and non-instructional technology and service delivery with the identified needs.
• Provide guidance and support, and facilitate the professional growth of the LTC team.
• Provide support and training for instructors and administrative staff in coordination with members of the LTC.

Jeff comes to us from UW-Madison where he worked as an Instructional Design and Technology Consultant. Jeff’s professional background is in French Language & Literature and Second Language Acquisition. He also has a wide variety of experience in instructional design, curricular development, and technology training in administrative and instructional settings.

During his time at UW-Madison, his responsibilities included designing and delivering professional development sessions in technology-driven pedagogy and academic technology, facilitating faculty development through the Blended Learning Fellowship Program, and acting as the curricular liaison for the COVID-19 Continuity of Instruction response team.

Jeff is originally from Atlanta, GA, and recalls fondly his first “true winter” after moving to Wisconsin (he currently resides in Madison).

Jeff and his partner enjoy outdoor sports as avid cyclists and snowshoeing enthusiasts. Jeff also loves spending time in the kitchen working his way around the world when it comes to new and exciting recipes (I think Jeff will enjoy the LTC food events)!
