My name is Emmy Huebner, I use she/her pronouns and have been a UC employee for 3 years now. I work as the Warhawk Alley Student Manager in the alley. Warhawk Alley is a student recreation space with a 10 lane bowling alley, billiards area, and video game lounge. We are open 7 days a week to students and faculty, as well as the public. We are the practice space for the Women’s NCAA Bowling team as well as the Men’s Club Bowling Team.

What does an average day look like working for the UC? What does your position entail?

When I get to work I immediately am focused on helping the customer and making sure they have what they need. I also complete front desk tasks as needed and I fix lane issues as they occur. Along with doing the everyday tasks, I also have manager tasks. I handle the scheduling and making sure that everyone has the correct amount of hours and is able to work their shifts. I also meet with my supervisor once a week to go over any changes which need to happen in the alley as well as update her on anything which has happened that week. In doing that I am able to serve a link between professional staff and student staff and help keep an open line of communication. I also help with the interview process with new employees as well as train them to make sure they are able to do the job at hand!

I have been able to balance all of this by creating a weekly schedule for myself and sticking with it. I make sure to communicate my schedule to friends as well as my supervisor!
