Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Anna Cernohous and my pronouns are she/her. I’m a senior studying marketing. This is my first semester working for the UC and I’m the UC Live Manager.

Tell us a little bit about your department.
UC Live coordinates and hosts programming events for students and the community in the form of movies in Summers Auditorium, Down Under events, art workshops, and special events like Glow Night, bingo, and trivia. We are housed in the Reservations Office in the University Center (UC 253) so stop by and say hi!

What does an average day look like working for the UC? What does your position entail?
Since I am in a manager position, I get to oversee all of the events taking place and assisting with planning and set up. Additionally, I run all of our social media accounts (go follow @ucliveuww !!). Each day I come into schedule social media posts, make TikToks, schedule event staff, and work with each team on their events.

What does being a UC employee mean to you?
Being a UC employee means that I am a part of the backbone of how the University Center is run. It is interesting to see the behind the scenes of activities that students and the community hold in the building. Since there are so many UC employees and staff, I get to collaborate with new people every day. We are all working together to create an inviting environment for everyone on campus.

What are some of the most memorable days/moments working for the UC?
My first official day on the job was the day of Glow Night, so I threw myself into the chaos of setting up for big events. It was so much fun! I got to meet so many new people (both new students and UC employees) and I learned way more than I thought I could on my first day. Another reason it was the most memorable was because we had about 1,000 students attend the event. It was awesome to be able to have a big event with people again.

Why should students visit the UC?
There are so many resources available to students –for academics, career, social, and even multiple dining options. It is a great place to hang out with friends, get homework done, take a break with some bowling or a movie, and so much more.

How will your position at the UC help you in your future career?
My position will help me stand out to recruiters for job positions in the future because I am gaining real managerial experience before I have even started my career. I am learning how to better communicate with those around me which is going to be crucial no matter what job I go into after graduation.

How do you balance school, work, extracurricular activities, and a social life?
I absolutely love my to-do list. Being able to cross off items gives me a little boost of dopamine and it helps keep me on track. Additionally, I love my outlook calendar. I use to have a physical planner but now I can just carry my phone around and know what is happening for the day, week, month, etc. I highly recommend keeping track of your schedule in some form because it helps me not feel too overwhelmed with everything I want to do each day.
