The end of the semester is quickly approaching. Soon, you will have to pack up your belongings to head home for the summer or move into a new place. Packing has always been a pain for me, which is why I always have a few shortcuts. Here are some tips and tricks I have learned on how to pack like a pro!
- Go through all of your things
Do you have a nice shirt that you haven’t worn in months? How about that jacket you bought and only wore once? What is nice about living on campus is that all of the resident halls have donation bins. Go through some gently used items and donate them! It will make packing everything a little easier.
Even if you typically do not create a list, do it. The end of the semester is very hectic. You have papers due, exams, group projects, etc… The list is endless! Help organize all of that, plus trying to get packed up by creating a list of what needs to be done. You will thank yourself later.
- Start packing early
When you get home from class, this is the last thing you want to do. Trust me, I know. But, packing little by little every day is a lot easier than packing all at once. It will help you to remember things. So, turn on the T.V. and pack while you catch up on your favorite show.
- Pack decorations early
Start packing up wall art, photos, and other decorative items early. I know your room won’t be as nice looking, but making sure that they are packed away properly and without any damage is more important.
- Organize
I know this sounds very simple, but make sure you categorize everything, especially clothes. Separate your clothes by season so when you are ready to unpack, you are pulling out your winter coat with your shorts for the summer. Make a box or bin of just winter items, summer items, and so on.
Packing can be stressful, especially with the added finals and end of the semester projects. Using these tips will help with the added stress of packing and get you ready for summer. Good luck with the rest of your semester, Warhawks!
