Finding Coupons

Now I know what you’re probably thinking: I’m not about to be that crazy coupon lady. I am not asking you to be like the people on Extreme Couponers, even though they’re kind of genius. They get stores to out them money in the end! But that also means that they probably purchased 35 bottles of mustard and who needs that much mustard!

Couponing does not need to be done at that extreme of a level. I try to do it whenever I go shopping, and I can promise you I don’t spend all day looking for coupons. If anything, I usually look in the flyer before I go shopping or search while I’m in line waiting to check out.

The two main places I look for coupons are at grocery stores and department stores (Kohl’s, Target, DSW, etc.). Both of these places can have deals online or in the week flyers (check the newspaper if you still get them).

For grocery stores, there are usually 1 or 2 coupons in their weekly flyers. Now you many not always need the item at the moment, but ask yourself if you’ll need it in the future. Non-perishable items can last for months, some ever years. Just because you buy it today does not mean you need to use it by tomorrow.

When it comes to finding coupons for department stores, it really not as hard as you think. If people knew that you basically just need to google “*store name* coupons”, I think a lot more people would use coupons. Every time I go to Kohl’s I always google their coupons. Usually it’s a 15% of your entire purchase or $10 off $30. Those are both great coupons depending on what you’re getting, and all you had to do was google it. There are also apps like Retail Me Not, that has tons of big brand name stores and any current deals/coupons they’re offering.
