MarketPlace’s purchase orders are currently being placed by one person. The first order is placed based on minimum order quantities, but additional orders are placed based upon a variety of factors, including knowledge gained by experience. The current reordering system does not allow for anyone else to be cross-trained. Also it creates some over ordering, which sometimes results in items becoming overstocked that cannot be sold.
The goal of this project was to provide MarketPlace with a model-based ordering system, using quantitative data. By using this system, a more accurate forecast could be attained, which would lead to a reduction in shortages and excess inventory. These reductions would then lead to a higher profit margin.

The analysis for hybrid and bio-fencing is encapsulated within a spreadsheet based template. We recognize that there our assumptions may vary overtime and by locality. Our model allows us to examine the key variables such as species, management methods, technologies, treatment effects, and market prices. By varying the respective variables incrementally, we can conduct a sensitivity analysis – thus providing some recommendation for “what-ifs”.

World Bank DSS. Natural disasters are an inevitable part of existence in every country in the world. However, some countries are more able to recover from these disasters on their own than others. The World Bank Group provides financing for in the form of grants and low-interest loans for countries that are less able to recover by their own means. How much funding is needed after a particular disaster is often little more than an educated guess, since collecting true data from the disaster site would be extremely time consuming and help is needed immediately. The purpose of this paper and model is to use data from past disasters in 32 countries throughout Africa and Asia to develop a decision support system to be used to make disaster relief funding decisions more timely and accurate.

Rural Health Care Networks The preventative rural health care model enclosed is a tool created for interested parties to use as a template for custom initiatives in coordinating the delivery of health care services and specifying transportation to and from health care facilities to rural villages in India. The model defines the health care services best practices for antenatal and neonatal care as well as resources necessary to ensure the health of pregnant women and infants are under medical supervision. Combining the model and current government programs results in an efficient and effective approach to implementing an independent health care program.
Mapping Campus Green Supply Chains. The scope of this project is to clarify and guide campus sustainability efforts by exploring elements of the UWW supply chain system. We will review current literature and industry ‘best practices’ to rationalize sustainability principles and apply them to the materials arena for the campus. We hope this project better quantifies sustainability measures and demonstrates how they can then be applied to all the arenas that contribute to UWW’s total CO2 Footprint. We have assembled available purchasing, waste management, and survey data and developed tools that can be used internally by UWW management for sustainability decision support. The reports are assembled in the sections provided along with electronic versions, presentation power points, and Excel templates/files. For additional details please visit 761Green.
