The Media VS Athletes

While going through feedly I found an article/video about the argument between Stephen A Smith and Kevin Durant. I’m pretty sure you’ve heard the story about Kevin Durant calling Stephen A Smith a liar after Mr. Smith reported that the Los Angeles Lakers would be the number one destination if he were to leave the team he is currently with, but what made headlines was Stephen A Smith response to Kevin Durant.
A lot of websites are saying that he threaten Durant when he said “You don’t want to make an Enemy out of me.” I feel like Stephen A Smith did the right thing standing up for himself, but the delivery came across as a bit arrogant. Now don’t get me wrong, Stephen A Smith has been working in the media for a long time; I would agree with Stephen A Smith when it comes to the relationship with Kevin Durant and the media.
Kevin Durant told the media that “you don’t know S***.” This is something that really upsets me about the world today, there’s a sense of sensitive. Anytime the media reports something based off of a source doesn’t mean that it’s always true, but just because a player says it doesn’t always make it true either. What I am trying to say is they were both wrong, Mr. Smith was wrong for his rant on First Take, and Kevin Durant was wrong for the way he treats the media.
I don’t think athletes really understand how valuable the media can be; yes it is true that the media can be a pain at times, but they are there to report the News. The media isn’t there to ruin lives, and I feel that these athletes need to understand that.

I agree that these athletes need to understand the role that the media plays. If it weren’t for their media coverage most of those athletes would be out of a job. They wanted to be placed in the spotlight and now they must accept it.
What a lot of athletes and stars don’t understand is that without media they wouldn’t have the platform they have today. It bugs me when players like Marshawn Lynch act like idiots in front of the media and the general public applauds them. In reality, without media there would be no sponsors or publicity which is where these players get a lot of their money.
