The season is changing, and that means that the leaves are changing colors and nature is looking better than ever. Seeing how colorful nature is in the fall is just as beautiful as love (cheesy alert) and what better way to see the leaves change than head out on a hike with your significant other. In Wisconsin, there are many places where you can go to hike and check out amazing views. To add to the adventure, packing snacks and packing a lunch would be the perfect date too. There are areas where you can set up a little picnic and relax after a long day of hiking! Don’t forget to also bring a backpack or some type of sling-back bag to put in waters, granola bars and a hiking map.

The Nature Preserve is located just right behind Whitewater that is a 2 mile walking trail. This trail is literally right in your backyard. You both can either drive there or walk there because it is that close to on, and off campus Whitewater. At the trail, you can discover views that you can’t get in other parts of Whitewater on the hills of the trail. You can oversee the rest of the landscape and the side of Whitewater campus that has the towers.

This quaint forest is more beautiful and larger than the nature preserve, which will give you and your significant other more of a scenery than the nature preserve in Whitewater. The Kettle Moraine State Forest is in Eagle, WI that is only 30 minutes away from Whitewater if you are not wanting to travel to Devil’s Lake. It is open form 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. If you both are wanting more a scenery close to Whitewater, but not exactly on campus, Kettle Moraine is one of the many places to visit!

The trail that I recommend to anyone wanting to hike at, is the state park, Devil’s Lake located in Baraboo, WI. Their visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for season’s other than the summer. The drive from Whitewater to Devil’s Lake is an hour and 36 minutes. It’ll be a long, needed adventure for you and your significant other, and as you get ready for the long trip ahead, make a hiking playlist for some of your favorite music that you both enjoy will get you excited to enjoy nature together! Don’t forget to check out the two main attractions, Balanced Rock and Devil’s Doorway. They are large rocks balanced by nature at the park!
