Anyone familiar with the game of baseball has heard the name Ichiro in one form or another. This man represents all the players in the league who do not hit for power but can punch a base hit anywhere and find a way on base.
He has only played for 3 teams in his 18 year stint in the majors ranging from the Yankees the Marlins and most iconic the Seattle Mariners. Throughout these 18 years the legend batted .311 with 117 home runs and 780 RBI’s. Ichiro is also a member of the 3000 hits club finishing his career with 3,089. Along with his incredible offense numbers, defensively he was a 10 time gold glove award winner. Among some of his most notable accolades is the fact that he was able to win Rookie of the Year in 2001 along with MLB MVP which isĀ very exclusive club to be in. In his rookie season he batted .350 with 242 hits and 56 stolen bases helping the Mariners win 116 games that year an impressive baseball feat on its own. After everything he has done for the game it is respectable to say good bye and thank the legend for all he has offered the game. In no time, when Ichiro’s name is eligible for the Hall of Fame we should definitely expect to see him as a sure in for a first ballot HoF.
