Front Runners for NL and AL MVP

While Christian Yelich of the Brewers is having back to back great performances, there is someone who is pushing to take his spot at MVP with his stellar numbers for the NL MVP.

His name is Cody Bellinger and OF/1B for the L.A. Dodgers. He currently leads the MLB in categories such as Wins Above Replacement, batting average, hits, slugging %, total bases RBI’s, runs scored and many others along with being tied at 14 with Yelich for home runs. Currently Bellinger is batting .434 which even though it’s still early in the season, that is an impressive accomplishment for anyone. The next closest average in the whole MLB is .375 which is .059 away from his which in the game of baseball is incredible for him to be that far in front of the next person. These are all reasons I have Cody Bellinger as my front runner as of now for NL MVP. For the AL MVP i have two prospects one being Mike Trout whose consistent performances have earned him a spot among the leagues elite and is a name that is almost never out of the hunt in major categories and has been in some of the top vote getters for AL MVP every year. With the AL this early in the season their ins’t as clear cut of a candidate other than Mike Trout but I will offer some names that have put up some impressive numbers in previous seasons, as players to keep an eye on. Some of the players on that list are Mookie Betts of the Red Sox, although the team isn’t having their best start ever you can hope for a turn around from the reigning World Series Champs. Then there is Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros who, ever since joining the league has been consistent like Trout in just putting up quality if not impressive numbers for his team. Next we have Francisco Lindor of the Cleveland Indians, who put up some impressive numbers last year and is always in the hunt for Gold Glove honors is a definite candidate to keep our eye on as well. Lastly, we have Kris Davis of the Oakland A’s whose offensive performances these past couple years are just a thing of beauty. With 48 home runs last year we never know what to expect with this man because he just keeps raising the bar for the league and himself. With all of this we still do have to consider that it is early in the season and MVP candidates could still emerge even after the all star break which is awhile from now, but these are the names we should probably keep an eye out throughout the season because their consistent performances have earned them these elite spots on our radar.
