On Tuesday February 19th the San Diego Padres signed 3B Manny Machado to a 10 year $300 million contract. The 4-time All-Star has finally signed to a team after what seems like forever since the beginning of this off-season.
The Padres were never one of the big contending market teams slated to receive this immense player contract but are more than thrilled to have this opportunity with this player. In 2018 the Padres ended the year with a slim 66 wins so with this new super-star on their team they will look to take the NL West and push themselves into the playoffs. As for Machado’s free agent counterpart Bryce Harper, there is still no news on him signing with a team. Which makes one have to think will he give in and take a deal now that spring training games have begun? Or will he wait until the right team and the right offer are presented to him?
