Examples of some student organizations here on campus are American Marketing Association (AMA), SRHM (Society for Human Resource Management), Habitat for Humanity, Best Buddies, Student Conduct Board, Latinos Unidos and much more!

There are many benefits to joining student organizations here on campus. Whether it’s making new friends and socializing, engaging in service opportunities, discovering new hobbies, or just having fun and being involved in something that you are passionate about.

SHRMElaina Lund: SHRM
I decided to join SHRM this semester and there are so many opportunities from joining. I’ve met a lot of other students within my major of Human Resource Management. Also we do all different kinds of events. So far we went and toured a company called Kerry Ingredients, we got to connect and network with the employees who currently work there. Also we have speaker meetings some weeks that range in all different topics that are useful to all college students. Anyone can join SHRM it’s not just for Human Resource Management majors!

amaIan Grisham: AMA

AMA is a student org with endless opportunities. A common misconception on this org is that one needs to be a Marketing major to join. However, this isn’t true. AMA has competitions that any business student can compete in. In addition, they offer certificate programs for Finance Service, Sales, and Online Advertising. Also through AMA there are many opportunities to get scholarships for attending and participating in events. The best part of being in AMA is all of the employers you get to meet through events or general group meetings. I know through AMA I now feel much more comfortable when interviewing with companies.

So with these two personal examples it shows that getting involved in student organizations is not just a resume builder. There are so many opportunities and positive experiences that come along with joining a student organization. So find a student organization that fits you best, there are many here at UW-Whitewater to choose from, and open the door to endless experiences!
