We all know that the food at wedding will make or break the day, and while those boring plated meals will always be a staple of wedding, 2020 is bringing some amazing food options.

Food Trend 1: Charcuterie

This trend is no surprise as charcuterie cheese boards are being popularized everywhere. This elevated cheese and crackers deal is going to become the new norm for appetizers and we are here for it.

Food Trend 2: International Cuisines

Say good bye to the steak and chicken options, 2020 is bringing food of the world to wedding tables. Indian, Mexican, West African, and many other cuisines will finally make their wedding debut. These delicious foods have long been over looked and couples are now wanting an nontraditional twist to their meals.

Food Trend 3: The Blast From The Past

This trend is what I like to call the grown up version of your childhood favorites. Mac and cheese, chicken tenders, and grilled cheese are coming back but to your wedding feast. People food they actually enjoy and are requesting the simple joys with a new take, such as: four cheese mac with caramelized onions, mini grilled cheese with Gouda, apple, and jam, or chicken tenders with a tahini/ peanut dipping sauce. Adults and kids will eat happily with this trend.

Trend 4: Snacks Only

The cost of a full three course meal is no joke, so its no surprise that people are opting out and going for an apps only option. Just envision a huge variety of bit sized delicacies and that’s what going to happen. This trend pairs with people doing odd day/time options to receive discounts from venues. For example if you book your wedding on a late Friday night or Sunday morning it could be up to half the cost.

Trend 5: One Word- Pie

Sick of wedding cake? Tired of s’mores or cupcakes being the only option? Do not fear because 2020 is bringing pie to your weddings, and thank the wedding gods for it. For those wanting a different but still delicious dessert are looking to pie for its wide variety of flavors and dependability. Everyone loves pie (if you don’t you’re crazy), and couples can satisfy everyone’s preferences with it. Whether that choosing apple or lemon meringue, to single slice or individuals pies, this trend is coming for your sweet tooth.

Trend #1 seems like a cheap option for an appetizer, you can eat cheese and crackers anytime you want. It’s funny that has become a common trend. Trend #5 I love cake so getting rid of that option and replacing it with pie would be highly disappointing, but probably cheaper. Favorite trend is #3 even though it may be geared more towards the kids.

All of these trends seem fun and inventive. I personally like food trend #3 the best and seems the most affordable! I have a long time to think about my future wedding/ plans but I will keep these ideas in mind!

I like all these options! I agree that you tend to go to weddings that have 3-course meals and the meals aren’t even that good. You know whoever is paying for the food is spending a lot of money as well! I think it makes sense for people to move away from this option and choose something more casual!

I love #3! Putting all my favorite foods from my childhood seems like the day is really about the couple and not about pleasing the guests. I never thought about being so non traditional.
