COVID 19 and the Wedding Industry

How couples are dealing with rescheduling and planning their weddings. Comment below what you would do in this situation!

Weddings all around the global are being effected by COVID 19. Here are a few ways couples are dealing with having to make their big day work around a pandemic.

#1- Postponing/Rescheduling

This is the most popular option as government regulations are not allowing any social gatherings and are recommending social distancing. While it is a bummer to change the day, this method ensure that friends, family, and event workers can stay safe and at home! While many vendors are willing to work around these changes, couples will still lose some money. Whether they have to pay increasing rates or they will lost all their monogrammed personal items. However, couples that were going to have destination weddings will take the hardest hit. If rescheduling isn’t an option they more than likely will lose all there money as tourism is at a low and resorts/venues need that revenue to keep a float.

#2- The Zoom Wedding

For the couples that don’t want to wait any long, they move ahead by doing a virtual wedding. Many people are having a family member or close friend get ordained online and get married with friends and family tuned in Zoom, Facetime, or even streamed on Facebook. Who says this virus has to stop people from getting married! This is a great way to still share the special moment with the important people in your life, without having to wait.

#3- The Small Wedding

Before stay at home mandates were in place but large events were band, many couples chose to scale way back. My Facebook feed was filled with back yard weddings, little white chapels, and family living room weddings, and honestly it was pretty beautiful. Happy smiling people surrounded by a few loved ones still got to feel special and celebrated. Quite often it was no more than 20 people, but at the end of the day the couple had everything they wanted.

What would you chose to do? Comment below on what your COVID 19 wedding would look like.

The virtual wedding would definitely be an interesting wedding to experience but it is something I would not want to do myself. A wedding is meant to bring family and friends together to celebrate and zoom would not really give you that same experience. If you really loved the person you were marrying, I would think postponing the wedding wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
