Welcome: Claudio D’Agostino

Please welcome Claudio D’Agostino, our new Director of Application Development. Claudio will lead the Application Development, Middleware and Business Intelligence (BI) Project teams. Today is his first day in the office.

Claudio comes to us from Quad Graphics in the Milwaukee area, where he was the Director of IT for the company’s holdings in Latin America. At Quad Graphics, he was responsible for directing strategic and daily operations of the IT platform for 11 production facilities located in six different countries. His day-to-day duties included developing business IT applications/solutions and leading initiatives to transition regional functions into an integrated corporate platform. Claudio also worked extensively with Quad Graphic’s Business Intelligence and ERP platforms. In total, Claudio has nearly 15 years of IT management experience.

Welcome Howard Haynes!

Dear ICIT Team,

Howard Haynes will be joining us as a temporary AIS Director, while we will be searching for a permanent replacement for Anand.  Howard will be providing leadership and guidance to the AIS team, while the Web team led by Christa, and the PMO team led by Stacy will report to me.

Howard brings a wealth of experience in higher education. His career includes more than 25 years of combined experience in information technologies within federal, state and public sectors. His current and past clients include the University of South Carolina, the University of South Florida, the University of Florida, the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Akron University, Keuka college, University Systems Georgia and Virginia Community Colleges.

Howard resides in Virginia, he will be doing some of his work remotely. The tentative plan is to alternate weeks between being on campus and working remotely.

Howard’s engagement with us starts on Tuesday, he will be located in Anand’s old office (L2004).  Please be sure to give him a warm welcome when you see him.

I want to take this opportunity to thank members of AIS team who took part in the  vetting process and helped select Howard for this role.

Personnel Announcement: Anand Vangipuram

Dear  ICIT Team-

It is with a heavy heart that I am sharing with you that  Anand Vangipuram has accepted a position with DoIT at UW-Madison. His last day with ICIT will be July 2. It goes without saying that Anand’s contributions to ICIT and to UW-Whitewater have been  immeasurable. He has positively impacted every person and every initiative he has touched over the years. I personally will miss him terribly. I would like to thank Anand, not only for his service and dedication, but also for providing a five week notice to help with transition planning. Early next week Anand and I will be meeting with the AIS team to get their feedback on the transition activities and future steps.

While we will never replace Anand, we will be working on filling the vacancy as soon as possible. The responsibilities have changed greatly since Anand joined us  4+ years ago.  We need to make sure that the new position description reflects the scope and also incorporates emerging responsibilities and trends. I invite all of you to send me your thoughts on what you think should be included in the new scope of responsibilities.

Personnel Announcement: Joe Rankin

Web applications developer Joe Rankin has given notice that he plans to leave UW-Whitewater. His last day with ICIT will be May 27. During his time on campus, Joe played a major role in the development of the campus’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, which is used to recruit students, and the redevelopment of the campus Whitepages. Theresa Parker Retirement Celebration

A celebration in honor of Theresa Parker will be held on Friday, October 16th from 12:00 – 1:30 PM in Andersen Library, Room 1015 (AIS area). Theresa likes to cook, so we will do a pot-luck style party over the lunch hour, please sign up to bring a dish using this link. If you would like to donate to the Theresa gift fund, you can drop your money off at the ICIT office or Ben’s office (Andersen 2008B). All money raised will go towards a gift for Theresa.
