UW-W NCBI DEI Workshops

UW-Whitewater has been a campus affiliate of the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) since 2018. The National Coalition Building Institute is an international leadership organization that provides training in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in community organizations, K-12 schools, college and university campuses, corporations and law enforcement.

Academic Affairs proudly offers these important workshops that have the potential to impact the lives of our Warhawk faculty, staff and students.

ICIT staff are encouraged to take part in the NCBI Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion workshops offered on campus. See the NCBI at UW-W workshop calendar or visit the signup tool to see session details and dates as well as to register.

See what participants of recent workshops are saying about their experiences.

The NCBI team can schedule workshops for groups/units at times other than the pre-scheduled sessions. And they also offer a shorter “Controversial Issues” model in addition to the EDI workshops.

January 3rd Party Patch

Starting Tuesday, January 18, the January third-party patch will be available for ICIT staff. ICIT staff will be in the first group to have the update available for installation prior to the full-campus release on Thursday, January 20. To review what is included in this patch, please see KB0010991.

The patch runs differently for macOS and PC/Windows devices:

  • macOS devices will receive a pushed update on January 18 1 that will run silently in the background. If your Mac is not on the campus network (remote employees), your device will need to be connected to Cisco AnyConnect VPN for a few hours to complete the update.
  • PC/Windows devices will see notification when the patch becomes available in Software Center on January 18.
    • Prior to updating, please close Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Windows users who do not self-install the update by Thursday, January 20 at 7 am will have the update pushed to their computer. At that time, the push can be deferred for 24 hours, after that deferral, Chrome and Firefox must be closed before starting the installations.
    • Employees not on the campus network will need to connect to Cisco AnyConnect VPN for a few hours to complete the update.

Both Mac and Windows users can reference KB0011003 for more information on the push process.

If you experience any issues during or after the install process, please contact Joel Koszyczarek.

Thank you Christa Vrabel!

As mentioned in the divisional meeting, Christa Vrabel’s final day with ICIT will be on Friday, December 3rd. On behalf of the entire ICIT organization, we would like to wish Christa the very best in her next opportunity.

Christa started at ICIT a little over 8 years ago as Web Coordinator. Three years ago, Christa transitioned her role to Manager of Web Operations. Some of her proudest accomplishments over the years include building strong relationships with content owners across campus and improving UW-Whitewater’s web presence. Christa’s most recent and fulfilling project has been optimizing the website for recruitment, enrollment and retention.

In her new opportunity, Christa will be working with Gibsons Restaurant Group. Her role will focus on optimizing their web presence and managing their e-commerce website.

Please take some time this week to congratulate Christa on her new opportunity!
