Sara Deschner joins iCIT as lab and instructional facilities manager for summer 2011

Sara Deschner, an IT instructor in the College of Business and Economics, has joined iCIT for summer 2011, taking interim responsibility for managing the General Access labs and instructional facilities summer projects.

For the past three years, Sara has worked for iCIT during summers and during the academic year on special projects related to labs and technology infrastructure.  In her expanded role this summer, she serves as the primary contact person for General Access lab operations, and supervises the student lab manager.  In addition, she provides oversight to the AV staff to monitor the progress of the lab and classroom summer projects, and will report status to iCIT management.  Sara also is leading the second phase of the desktop virtualization project, to make lab software readily accessible to students outside of lab facilities. 

Sara is working with Mary Jo deMeza  to transition responsibilities before Mary Jo’s retirement date at the end of June.   Her office space is in McGraw 13.  Please join us in welcoming Sara to the iCIT team for summer 2011!

Jeanne Rhodes Cupertino to join iCIT as TSC Team Lead

Jeanne Rhodes Cupertino will join the Technology Support Center Helpdesk staff as LTE-Team Lead.  In this role, Jeanne will report to TSC Manager Adam Hufnagel, and will provide day-to-day supervision to the Tier 1 support team.  Jeanne will work on a daily basis to maintain Core TSC Tier 1 troubleshooting steps and ensure proper escalation and routing of tickets, oversee training, and run quality assurance check points.  Jeanne’s first day is Monday, June 6.

Jeanne brings more than eight years of work supervisory experience to the position, including development and implementation of procedures for workplace efficacy, training and customer service.   Please join us in welcoming Jeanne to the iCIT team!

Ray Stanek to join iCIT as Document Management Analyst

Ray Stanek, an accomplished IT manager with strengths in analytics, business requirement definition and software development lifecycles, will join iCIT as Document Management Analyst.  In this role, Ray will lead projects involving the campus document management system, ImageNow. He will be responsible for providing and maintaining high-quality service to ImageNow  customers, working with business units, technology staff and vendors on ImageNow installations and maintenance.   Ray’s first day will be Thursday, June 2. 

Prior to joining UW-Whitewater, Ray worked for Thomson Reuters of Brookfield, Wis., where he rose from WAN Engineer to Director of Product Management, responsible for business solutions including product strategy, demand management, product development, communications and training.  In his new position at UW-Whitewater, Ray will focus his business analysis skills on understanding workflows and identifying opportunities for redesigning business processes; developing scripts and code to customize DMS functionality, and enabling integration with other campus systems.  He will work with the customer to develop training plans and materials, and provide training as required.

Ray will work closely with the ImageNow Governance group, and will report to Mary Jo deMeza on an interim basis.  Please join us in welcoming Ray Stanek to iCIT.

Personnel Announcement: Mark Wozny

The term of the TSC Helpdesk Manager project position will end in June, and Mark Wozny, who currently serves in this position, will be leaving iCIT to pursue other opportunities.  Under Mark’s leadership, the TSC Helpdesk was able to complete several of the goals and objectives set out for modernization and process improvement, and we are appreciative of his contributions over the last year.  

To assure that service is uninterrupted and responsibilities of the position are maintained,  iCIT management is developing a coverage plan and transition timeline.  We will share it with you once the details are worked out.

Outage and maintenance update

Please be aware of the following maintenance activities. 

  • Network maintenance is planned for Thursday morning, April 14, starting at 6 a.m. which may result in very brief (5-minute), select outages.  Services that may be affected include TaxWise, RoomView, ArcView GIS, FP&M TMA and JCI applications, CoBE Podcast Producer, Point and Click, Doc Imaging, Raiser’s Edge. 
  • UW-Whitewater’s Identity Management System will be making changes to coincide with UW System’s new HRS  System on April 18.  During the conversion from 6 a.m. Saturday, April 16, to 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, password changes to network accounts will not be available.  If you have questions about the HRS System, refer to the UW-Whitewater HR website for information and updates. 
  • As part of a new FP&M campus substation project, power outages will occur in White Hall on Wednesday, Apr. 13 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday, Apr. 14; and in Roseman Hall on Thursday, Apr. 14 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Friday, Apr. 15.
