ICIT is looking for a Lead Windows System Engineer. In this position, the candidate will lead a team of senior technologists in performing advanced IS duties related to the management and support of systems software (including operating systems) and applications software. These duties include planning and needs assessment, installation, maintenance, problem resolution, security, and system monitoring. The primary emphasis of this position is to lead team leadership in the deployment, operation and support of Windows servers and related technologies for the University.

An ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to design, specify, install, manage and maintain enterprise Windows server infrastructure and related services including Exchange, IIS, SQL Server and other Windows system facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management tools and technologies used for automation and standardized deployment of Windows servers in a large enterprise environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Group Policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, specify, install, manage and maintain enterprise Windows server infrastructure in a large scale environment.
  • Knowledge of server and network monitoring software, including instrumentation for performance tuning, fault detection and security auditing.
  • Strong knowledge of one or more scripting or development frameworks such as .Net, PowerShell, Perl, Java or Unix shell scripting, including using these scripting frameworks to interact with system APIs to automate tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of server and workstation virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and/or Vmware View.
  • Experience preparing detailed project plans and leading technical teams on complex projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience giving technical presentations or training.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

ICIT looking for a Front End Web Developer

We are seeking a creative, dynamic, and talented Front End Web Developer, who can translate website designs into state of the art mobile and web experience for campus users. Candidates will need to plan and build innovative websites where the presentation “feels” real and responds intelligently to user interactions, using the latest technologies such as HTML 5, CSS 3, Advance JavaScript frameworks and emerging mobile development platforms. The Front End Developer will participate in general project planning meetings with key team members to ensure level of efforts are accurate and that existing industry standards are being met and/or new standards are being developed and implemented. This position will work under the direction of Director of Administration Information Systems (AIS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply advanced knowledge of modern web development standards to implement website designs using HTML 5, CSS 3 and JavaScript (XML and XLST knowledge also preferred)
  • Update and maintain existing HTML, CSS and JavaScript templates for campus websites
  • Use responsive design techniques to ensure content adapts appropriately to mobile devices and browsers
  • Perform server-side programming including interaction with databases and syndicated feeds (such as PHP, MySQL and RSS)
  • Manage user accounts and permissions for the university’s content management system (CMS)
  • Configure and maintain web statistics software for the campus website and provide reports when needed
  • Communicate information and requests to project team members, management, and impacted parties in a timely manager using appropriate methods

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science or related field
  • Demonstrated ability in using HTML, JavaScript and CSS to develop websites based on provided graphical designs
  • Experience with XML and XSLT preferred, willingness to learn is acceptable
  • Experience in the use and support of a content management system preferred
  • Passionate about pushing the boundaries of interactive technologies
  • Must be comfortable working in a collaborative environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with cross-platform, multi-browser issues
  • Experience with graphics generation software, including Adobe Photoshop

Help ICIT find a talented Web Coordinator

The Web Coordinator will develop and drive a comprehensive Web strategy for UWW that effectively aligns the digital strategy to support University’s mission. This position’s responsibility is to provide consultative web project management involving both strategic thinking and collaborative partnerships with UWW stakeholders. As part of the ICIT division, this customer-focused position provides direction and expertise in the development of UWW’s Web architecture by aligning web needs of the UWW stakeholders with the comprehensive Web strategy. This position will work under the direction of Director of Administration Information Systems (AIS).

An ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge in web site design, management and CMS systems to guide the future development and enhancements of the university web sites
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing strategy for search engine optimization for web pages
  • Demonstrated experience using current versions of web authoring and publishing tools: MS Office suite,Dreamweaver, Composer, Acrobat
  • Knowledge of current web presentation languages (HTML, SHTML, XHTML, XML)
  • Experience with cascading style sheets (CSS)
  • Familiarity with web infrastructure, server environment (Apache, IIS, etc.) and site development
  • Experience supporting web environments for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for problem-solving
  • Ability to work with a diverse set of customers with a variety of skill levels
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to work effectively in a team with other technology specialists
  • Experience in a higher education environment a plus
  • A four-year degree in a technology-related field and/or four (4) or more years experience with web-related technologies is preferred

Carolyn Wilson resigns from ICIT

Carolyn Wilson has announced she will be leaving UW-Whitewater to join a technology company called SPSI – Systems Programming & Solutions, Inc. in Wauwatosa in the position of eMarketing Manager. In this newly created role, Carolyn will build up not only their digital marketing, but marketing as a whole for SPSI. Carolyn’s last day at UW-Whitewater will be Friday, April 12.

Since joining ICIT in 2006, Carolyn has been a key contributor to many ICIT initiatives. She was instrumental in transitioning various campus websites from the old Content Management System (CMS) to the new Ingenuix CMS and played a key role in developing the mobile strategy and plan. During this transition, she ensured that all UWW websites met consistent branding and Section 508 Accessibility standards. Her work was very much appreciated by our customers across campus. In 2012, Carolyn received a Chancellor’s Award on Disability Concerns for her work to ensure all UWW web content meets World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)’s Accessibility Guidelines.
