Elena Pokot announced that Brett Cook will take on the responsibilities of the Unified Desktop Management project. He will be responsible for the overall process development and for Windows desktop management. Mike Farrey will work with Brett to implement the same approach for the Mac platform.
The project was initiated last March when James Leckel submitted a proposal to reduce duplication of effort in regards to office and lab workstation management. A small team consisting of Brett Cook, Adam Hufnagel, James Leckel and Benjamin Villanueva was formed to conduct the needs assessment, planning, and process development for a unified desktop management strategy. The final report was delivered to the Management Team at the end of May. This report recommended approaches and technology to make the management of desktops consistent and effective. The recommendations were accepted and the project was approved for implementation. After careful consideration, the Management Team selected Brett to lead the project implementation.
As we launch this initiative after the beginning of the Fall semester, Brett will report to both Mary Jo and Lorna. Mike Farrey will continue to report to Mary Jo.
