December 2014 Meeting

The LGBT Task Force met for the final time this year on Thursday, December 11, 2014. Here is what what discussed as well as highlights of upcoming events:

  • Gender Inclusive Bathroom signs designating all gender use facilities to be in place around campus by the end of the semester
  • Committee will soon be taking nominations for the Rainbow Celebration of Excellence awards, so keep watch for more applications and fill them out for anyone you would like to see honored for their contributions to the LGBT* community
  • Speaker: Jessica Kota, expert on two spirit identities – Thursday, February 19, 2015 in UC 275A from 3:30-4:30pm. Jessica Kota is an individual and family therapist who will speak about The Two-Spirited: Living in Multiple Worlds.

November 2014 Meeting

  • Forming a committee to explore adopting a Preferred Name Option for campus
  • Safe Zone Module 4: Becoming an Active Ally – Tuesday, November 18 8:30am-9:30am in the Career & Leadership Development Conference Room and Friday, November 21, 11am-12noon in UC 260

  • Boxes and Walls:The Oppression Experience – October 13-16,2014, 6-10pm Esker Hall – created and hosted by Res Life – all are invited to this interactive diversity to get a glimpse of what life is like for someone else
  • Safe Zone Module 2: Gender Identity – Friday, October 10, 12-1pm, and Wednesday, October 15, 8:30-9:30am, Career & Leadership Development Conference Room
  • Safe Zone Module 3: LGBT* Student Experiences – Tuesday, October 28, 12-1pm and Thursday, November 6, 2-3pm, Warhawk Connection Center
  • Queer Cultural Film: Boy Meets Girl – Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 6pm in the Warhawk Connection Center
