February 2014 Meeting

The LGBT* Task Force is back for another semester full of exciting events and information this spring!

The LGBT Task Force had its first meeting on Thursday, February 13, and here are a few of the upcoming events:

  • Born This Way Film Screening, Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 3-4pm International LGBTQ & Ally Student Reception and Film from 4-6pm in the Warhawk Connection Center
  • PRIDE Week, April 7-11, 2014 with Ally Open House on Tuesday, April 8 from 11am-2pm in the PB Poorman PRIDE Resource Center and Warhawk Connection Center
  • Esera Tuaola, former Green Bay Packer, Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 7pm in the UC Hamilton Room
  • The Challenges of Being Asian and LGBT, Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 4:30-6pm in the Warhawk Connection Center

Marriage Equality Coming to Wisconsin?

Some brave couples in the state of Wisconsin are fighting for marriage equality. This is the courageousness we need to get this state moving forward and towards achieving equality and civil rights for all state residents! December 2013 Meeting

The LGBT Task Force held its final meeting for the Fall 2013 semester on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Some of the topics discussed are:

  • Safer Sex Drive was very successful!
  • LEAP Team proposal for faculty and staff to receive training for LGBT* issues
  • Discussed the LGBT* student panel and the Mara Kiesling presentation
  • Planning for upcoming 2014 Spring semester

October 2013 Meeting

The LGBT Task Force held its monthly meeting on Thursday, October 10, 2013, and here are a few of the upcoming events:

  • Boxes and Walls: The Oppression Experience -created and hosted by Res Life – Students, Faculty, and Staff are welcome to experience an interactive diversity to give a glimpse of what life is like for someone else at Esker October 14-17, from 6:00pm-10:00pm
  • It Gets Better! – sponsored by the Young Auditorium and Campus Diversity Forum on Thursday, November 7
  • Transgender Identities and Issues presented by Mara Kiesling, Executive Director of the National Center for Transgender Equality speaks on Thursday, November 14 at 11:00am in the Warhawk Connection Center
