In 2017, I was a part of the Service and Leadership program at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. Throughout the semester, a couple of students and I worked with a few landscapers to plan a playground renovation for the Lakeview Elementary School in Whitewater. I was a part of the planning committee and got to plant trees and paint a Buddy Bench with the kids. This particular project enhanced my team building, organization, leadership, and communication skills, all while creating a safe and engaging environment for the students. It built my event planning skills because we had to provide dates to travel to the school, get mulch, bricks, shovels, gloves, trees, all while complying with out budget. This was also a cool way of learning about how to plant trees and shrubs in a particular environment.
