Buying Myself A Gift

This weeks blog is about purchasing a gift for myself that I’ve been wanting for awhile. I have been needing a new winter for the past 4 years ever since I graduated high school. I had purchased one last year that really didn’t meet my standards of comfort or style, but was okay for handling the sharp winds. I always kind of wanted a black jacket with a hood and that was more stylish I just never had the money, or thought it was worth spending over $100 on something I was really excited about. I had been looking at jackets pretty much since June, but I didn’t really find anything until my boyfriend let me wear his expensive North Face one to go to get McDonalds after a late night out in 20 degree or below weather. Saying I fell in love with the coat is weird… but in this case true. It was like I wrapped in a huge warm blanket hug. I had never felt so cozy in a winter jacket before. And I was in a crop top and leggings and everything the jacket covered was perfectly warm and it was like it was summer again. I knew that if the was a girl version of the jacket I wanted it! So I saved up the money and went shopping!

The past few weeks I had tried a few different styles from North Face and I couldn’t quite find the exact jacket Aaron has because it was two seasons ago and you know how the fashion industry changes so frequently. Anything that looked almost identical was $400+ which was insane and I would not pay that much for a jacket unless it felt like Aaron’s and I walked outside everyday for more than an hour. But I did find one that is super close and actually a bit more feminine! Its called the Stretch Down Parka. Now, that being said. It was still expensive but it was cheaper than all of the ones that looked exactly like Aarons. I just got it in the mail today and it was exactly like the warm big hug that Aaron’s jacket was! I wasn’t really sure I was going to be able to come up with a story for this blog but I’m glad I had the opportunity to splurge on myself a little bit. It truly felt like I was spending time on myself and finding a gift for myself.

I know that self care can come in many forms and for me, spending money seems to be one of them. Maybe next week my focus should be budgeting on a Menards paycheck! I added the link below incase any of you wanted to check out the coats on The North Face website! Goodluck and stay warm!

I try and do this every once in a while myself a lot of times I just do something small like a cup of coffee from Starbucks or a bottle of wine. Hi Ashley,

Buying yourself a gift can be super rewarding, and from time to time I’ll do something like this myself. I am very keen on saving money, and sometimes it gets a little out of hand. When I find myself eating fast food mulitiple times a week becasue I’m saving a buck, I realize that treating myself occasionally makes me more prone to wanting to save because I can then buy myself something nice every once in a while. I’m glad you found a jacket that you love, and I hope it will last you for a long time!

Treat yourself! NorthFace are my favorite go-to when it comes to jackets or fleece zip ups. I think it’s funny you fell in love with it on a late run to McDonalds haha

While there are plenty of things we can live without, a good winter coat is not one. This is definitely something worth spending big bucks on if you’ll get good use out of it! Keep treating yourself!
