“You” Time.
Exams and projects, well, I guess finals in general, are a formula for STRESS. Even throughout the semester, I tend to forget to de-stress and designate time to relax. When I say “You” time, I mean to designate a time you are doing things for YOU. Actually, research shows that self-care not only improves your overall sanity, but also improves your physical health! What does this look like? It can be as simple as getting more sleep, setting aside time to watch a movie, and have a spa night a couple of times a month. Here are some top self-care activities you can do at home. 1. Exercise. Throughout the…

How To Organize Your Work Environment
My homework will not be completed if my workspace is messy. Honestly though! If my room or desk is unorganized, I might as well not even open my computer. I know that might sound dramatic but let me tell you, I am much more efficient and successful when studying in a clean work environment. Here are some tips that have helped me keep a clean and organized work space: 1. Find a solid workspace With COVID making most classes online, it might be challenging to find a place to do homework at home. With this, avoid studying and doing homework from your bed at all costs. Yes, I know it…

Time Management
As a college student, time management is essential in functioning to your fullest potential. For example, if your time management skills are weak, your education, extra circulars, and employment are near impossible to balance. Personally, time management has taken years for me to perfect. However, I want to share a couple of tips that have helped me best manage my time. 1. Set Goals Yes, I know it sounds broad, but it is very beneficial. The first step is to set goals, big or small. Each week, I set goals for myself. Typically, on Sundays, I focus on homework assignments, upcoming exams, laundry, or other tasks I want to complete…

Budgeting
Budgeting, as a college student, is an art within itself. How are we supposed to live on our own, have our own freedom, AND manage our wallets? Here are some tips that help me budget and stick with it! 1. Make a Game Plan Especially for first-year students, it’s beneficial to sit down and create an overall plan for your finances. Even if your parents are helping you with school, it is still helpful to have a plan to visualize what money is going where. In my freshman year, I made an appointment with the financial aid office to layout my finances on an Excel sheet for the school year.…

Meal Planning
Serious question: Who actually enjoys food from college dining halls? Here’s my serious answer: Not many people. I mean, the dining halls were a great option when I was a freshman. The building was real close to my dorm, and it was a perfect time to meet new people and socialize with my friends! But what happens when I live off-campus and don’t want to eat dining hall food anymore? Let me tell you; the best solution is meal planning. I have lived off campus for three years, and truthfully, before sophomore year, I didn’t know how to cook much of anything. I had it pretty easy in high school;…

Study Tips
Studying for exams! The best part of college, right?! Wrong. For as long as I can remember, studying has been one of my greatest weaknesses. I do not focus after sitting at a desk for a long period of time, and I also am not a strong test taker. So, I really just dislike studying overall. However, I can say that I have self-taught myself how to properly study without totally hating it and without draining my brainpower. Generally, professors heavily weigh exams and quizzes in our overall grades. They are important! That means we have to, at least, adapt to study habits and create the best methods to be…

Social Life
If you ask ANY college student, they will tell you “social life” is the best part of being a college student. I mean, we have unlimited freedom, we can order food at 3 A.M., and run around with our friends. The most important of all, there’s no curfew! It doesn’t get better than this. However, it is tough to adjust to this life, Especially for freshman; it’s tough to get used to the freedom that comes with living away from home. But how? How do college students maintain a social life? How do we even start one? From my experience, maintaining a social life is just as important as balancing…
