Feedly Blogs

One of the blogs that I found the most interesting was the “How to of the Day”. This blog gives an example everyday of how to do something interesting or that you never thought you could do. Then after you read through the step by step instructions there are always of few warnings they make you aware of and also some tips on how to best succeed in your do it yourself project. The greatest strength of this particular one has to do with how up to date it is. Also they just started posting a few days ago so this is relatively new to feedly. I am not sure this is a strength but hopefully they will continue in the right direction. As long as it continues to be updated s it was in the first few days then I am sure that will play to their strength of timeliness. Some of these projects are on a large scale and friends or communities can come together to complete them. These new ideas will keep the audience coming back for more projects to try. Here is the link, check it out!

Another one of my favorite blogs has to be the one titled “eat.sleep.wear.”. I love the topic of fashion but what I like about this blog is that it is one woman who models all the clothes herself and then talks about why she put those fabrics, colors and accessories together. I think the greatest strength of this blog is that it is the same model in each picture and she was able to style herself. When she comments at the end about why she put that particular outfit together and what the occasion was it gives the reader a very personable answer. There is even on epost where she shares her experience of cutting 8 inches off of her hair and donating it. All of these steps make it seem as though we are friends with the blogger which is going to build a great relationship and keep readers coming back for more. For sure check this one out, it is my favorite!

The most helpful blog is a travel blog known as “Stuck in Custums”. These pictures are from all of over the world which is so neat. But the strength of this blog has to be the photos, they are simply amazing. But what makes this blog so useful is the tips they give about how they made that picture look the way it does. Most every post has a little lesson to be learned, anything from framing to zooming is covered. This creates a sense of community not only for those that love traveling but for those interested in anything to do with photography. I cannot wait to see where the photos will be from or what lessons I will learn next on this blog.

  1. Sarah,

I really enjoyed investigating and reading several articles from each of the blogs you mentioned.

The How to of the Day blog includes such a wide variety of interests. I think this is great for readers to browse through to find something that interests them, and I think this blog engages the audience by getting ideas from the readers. With the amount of cool “How to of the Days”, people must be pretty active and involved. I would imagine a lot of people like to share their “how tos”, which brings people back to check out their ideas and others. A lot of the topics on here I would have never expected to read. I especially liked the randomness of the How to Care for a Quail post! It was actually pretty interesting! 🙂

I was excited to take a look at the eat.sleep.wear. blog. I also have the same interests as you with fashion, and Kimberly Pesch really shows her personality through her writing. She included personal experiences with cancer and a reader could really sense her passion and compassion in the The Beautiful Lengths. This specific post was great. I love how Kimberly included not only photos, and a video, but she also informed readers the qualifications to donate and provided information about the cause. This strategy of promoting charity and helping others could engage the audience and keep them coming back for more to see what they could do to make a difference.

I would agree with you that the Stuck in Customs biggest strength is the photos. They are beautiful! I would have to say my favorite would have to be the Beautiful Clouds in Dusseldorf post written by Luke Lakatosh. Another strength used here was his use of video. He takes viewers through the process of how Trey Ratcliff fabricates his large format photos. I don’t have much background in photography at all, but he laid it out in an easy way to follow along. This blog engages readers by learning something new, while looking at incredible pictures. I don’t know about you, but after reading this blog I have stronger dreams of traveling the world!

    1. Sarah,

I also am following the eat.sleep.wear blog! I really liked that one, and I agree with what you had to say about it. I like that the blogger herself is the one modeling the clothes and talkng about them. I think that adds credibility because she’s right there actually in the clothes.

I think the first blog you talked about sounds really interesting and I hope they do keep posting!

That last blog sounds AWESOME, I love travel and looking at travel blogs. Seeing pictures and hearing stories from all over the world is just so interesting. Also blogs that are picture heavy I find very interesting and I feel like I’m more likely to look and keep up with a blog that has pictures and other forms of media. Plus, many times Photos can tell stories even better than words can.

  3. Hi Sarah,

I checked out the “How to” blog, and it is awesome. I’m definitely a “do it youselfer”, so this blog will help me tremendously! The range of “how to’s” are incredible; I think I just saw one to help get over a runny nose and another that was how to raise Black Angus cattle, LOL! How did you come across this blog? I feel like it would have taken me a million Google searches to find anything like this. I will be adding this the other blogs I visit regularly! Thanks!
