ICIT Personnel Announcement – Peter Vander Velden

After spending two years as a member of the ICIT team, Peter recently accepted a network security position with the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Division of Information Technology (DoIT). His last day with the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater was Friday, November 14th. Peter’s primary role with ICIT was campus AV support specialist, he was part of the UET team. While with ICIT, Peter played an instrumental role in implementing standardization of classroom AV technology on the UW-Whitewater campus. ICIT wishes Peter the best in Madison.

ICIT Personnel Announcement – John Collins

John Collins’ position with ICIT expired on October 31st after three and a half years with the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. John joined ICIT in 2011 and spent his first year and a half with the department as a desktop support technician. He then switched roles, filling the workstation software engineer position where he also helped support the UET team.  The UW-Whitewater ICIT Department wishes John the best on his future endeavors.

ICIT Personnel Announcement – Richard Durrant

We recently announced some personnel changes within ICIT and today we have one more to announce. Once again we are losing a longtime ICIT team member but this one comes with a silver lining.

Richard served as the lead Network Cable Technician with ICIT for a little over 6 years. Richard is leaving ICIT, but he’s not leaving UW-Whitewater. Richard has accepted a new role within the Facilities Planning & Management department. In addition to supporting ICIT needs for infrastructure/data cabling, Richard will be taking on additional Project Management responsibilities for FP&M. This new role officially started on October 6th. ICIT and FP&M constantly work together on increasing our campus network/infrastructure. Though it’s sad to see another teammate go, Richard will continue to work closely with ICIT.

We want to thank Richard for all his time, effort, and passion he dedicated to ICIT. Without strong teammates like Richard, you cannot have a strong team.

For any questions regarding this announcement, please contact Ray Stanek.

Organizational Change in Database Administration Reporting

In order to facilitate the PeopleSoft 9.0 upgrade and ensure that our application developers have all of the support needed for database (and data) administration, we are transitioning responsibility for database administration from NOC to AIS effective immediately.

As part of this transition, Rick Buerger will be joining AIS and will be moving his office to the developers’ area. While Rick’s dedication and easygoing manner will be missed by those in NOC, they are confident that this change is best for the organization at this time.

Organizational Change – Web Management Group

As the need for Web-based communication and business processes grows rapidly across the campus, iCIT’s role in supporting these services continues to evolve, as well. Our web customers do not generally differentiate between website design, support, application development, and content management – for them these are all related components of their websites. In this context, the web support and web development areas have been working together closely to meet customer needs.

In order to reflect this need for integrated services organizationally, the web development team and Web support team will be merged. Effective January 16th, 2007 the merged Web Management group will become a part of OTEC, reporting to Mary Jo deMeza. The group will continue to work closely with other areas of iCIT in order to leverage existing tools, applications and systems, and to assure appropriate infrastructure and capacity planning Aligning the resources in this manner will enable our customers to have a common point of contact and support as we formalize our request for service processes.

If you have questions or comments regarding this change, please do not hesitate to speak with Elena Pokot or Mary Jo deMeza.
