Organizational Change in Database Administration Reporting

In order to facilitate the PeopleSoft 9.0 upgrade and ensure that our application developers have all of the support needed for database (and data) administration, we are transitioning responsibility for database administration from NOC to AIS effective immediately.

As part of this transition, Rick Buerger will be joining AIS and will be moving his office to the developers’ area. While Rick’s dedication and easygoing manner will be missed by those in NOC, they are confident that this change is best for the organization at this time.

Open Position for Technology Skills Advancement

iCIT is now recruiting for the role of Technology Skills Advancement. The position’s primary responsibility is to develop methodologies for the advancement of the skills of university staff in using technology. The position will provide leadership in the development of training solutions and methodologies to improve the general understanding of technology concepts. The person will transition campus from the traditional approach of teaching software features to methods that focus on departmental business processes. The person in this position works under the supervision of the Director of Office Technology and Enterprise Communication in iCIT.

Melissa Helgeson Accepts Systems & Network Engineer Position

iCIT welcomes Melissa Helgeson as the new Systems & Network Engineer in NOC. Her first initiatives will include familiarizing herself with the UWW Novell environment and assisting in the transition from Netware to Linux. For the last 10 years Melissa worked as a system administrator for Rock County, with experience in Novell Netware and Cisco networking systems. Melissa’s first day will be Monday, January 7.
